It does look pretty good in that pic! Seems a little high after comparing some prices. But, my M39 is not a Sako, but a 1944 VKT on a 1897 Tula receiver. Do you have any more details? Tang date and arsenal stamp?

You might pop on over to www.gunsnammo.com and check out the M39s there. Compare prices too. Not entirely sure if Sako is more rare M39 breed or not. There are some high prices on that site too. They don't have to look good and cost $500 to shoot good either

Yep, for what it is I would take a look at what Pat Burns has and/or go to SOG. I got my M39 from SOG and it looks pristine. Plus, they were a heck of a lot cheaper!

mine was kind of a beater, with most of the bluing gone and dings in the stock. It shoots great and I did the cold bluing on it myself. Sako was the most common M39 so it's not rare. Bought mine for about $225 from SOG.

Yea, $500+ dollars is a little steep for an M39. I got mine for half that.

Its a Sako 1944 built on a Remington reciever.

Oh man, thats cool a Remington receiver! Got the best of both worlds there I'm always keeping an eye out for a Sestroryetsk receiver. Still haven't found one. Or a Sestro M91. Hoping my luck will change one of these days!

If you get this one it's an antique and can be shipped directly to your door, no transfer fee. If I were to buy an M39, which I will as soon as funds allow, I want an antique Sestroryetsk receiver with one piece stock or rounded splices and the best bore I can find. I really even like the worn almost-no-bluing-left look.

Square finger joints imply a post-war stock, so it'll probably be a blondie. The reinforced buttstock is supposed to be a 60's and 70's thing, interesting... Perhaps a new stock was put on it before being imported. Overall, I believe the price is fair on that one.

1943 M39 Tikka built on a Tula 1916 receiver, extremely nice condition. Barrel and bolt match. Has square finger jointed stock with reinforcing wood plugs in the butt and wrist area. Barrel is about mint with no counter-bore. A very hard example to find. $500

Well, I got my VKT for 230 shipped, and it was pretty pristine. So yeah, that price seems kind of high to me.
