Single Six

Well, after getting the tax refund I headed to the gunstore in hopes of finding a S&W 63 or 317,but all they had was a 317 which I thought that I wanted before I went to look at guns, but after handling the 317,it felt like a little toy,so I was disappointed. Then a gun caught my eye that I would have never thought I would even look at,but when your in the store and handling the guns-your mind changes quick. The gun-a Ruger Single six .22LR/.22WMR!I just fell in love with it the second it touched my hand,I normally don't care for anything other than double action snubs, but there is just something about this one-so I bought it,walked out the store with a completely different gun than I thought I would.I have only fired 12 rounds of .22LR through it so far,but I figured out how to put the .22WMR cylinder on,so I can't wait to go out tomorrow to try it out,and after having a little ringing in my ears from the .22LR,I'd better bring some earplugs to try the .22WMRs.I hope this gun turns out well for me and is a better shooter than my Taurus 94 was,I can already tell that everything is smoother, and the action is SOO much crisper than the Taurus was.I really hope it lasts a long time and gives me alot of fun.

Ninjatoth, you will never regret purchasing the Single Six. Attached is a picture of my 1982 Single Six convertible and I am the first and only owner. The picture also shows my 1963 Bearcat and again I'm the original owner. The Beretta 92SB 9mm is Italian made; I purchased it in the days before the U.S. military adopted it as the standard sidearm.
Anyway, I love my Single Six and it'll be in my estate when I'm no longer on this earth!

Ninjatooth, congratulations on getting a truly "Lifetime" gun.

I guess it's possible but I've never known anyone to wear one out.

I had a Single Six and a Super Single Six but foolishly traded them off.

Now I want another but this one will stay.

I can't hardly believe how accurate mine is. They have a 12" steel plate set up at 100 yds at the local range. I can hit it 5 out of 6 times with the 22lr cylinder. I don't do near as well with the mag cylinder.

I have a Ruger Target model that will out shot it a 25 yrds, but put the range out to 100 and the single 6 wins.

The only thing I can say about a 4 5/8" Single Six is that ( heaven forbid) if I were restricted to owning only one handgun for the rest of my days..that would be the one.

I have the exact same model but with the 5.5" barrel. I picked it up last year and probably paid too much but I had to have it. It is a great gun and I will never part with it. I shot an armadillo just yesterday at about 40yds with it. The single six is a classic.

i just picked up a single six tonight with a 5 and 1/2 inch barrel and it does feel really nice in your hand. does anyone have info on the year of mine, it is the 3 click adjustable sight aluminum frame and blued upper cylinder and barrel and the anodized extractor with walnut grips in the 60-84000 range on the serial number. the gun is in very good shape. i have around 225.00 in it. my daddy loved rugers you will enjoy yours im sure.

I have very little on it but Ruger has a serial # id on their sight I believe.Adjustible sights seem to have come on the scene from 1964-72 according to Blue Book. ,,,sam.

Can't possibly go wrong with the Single Six in any form unless a previous owner has just shot the guts out of it which is pretty tough (if not impossible) thing to do.

I get better groupings with the magnum rounds than the long rifle rounds. There's not much difference but there is A difference.
