I recently had a bidder from Illinois win an auction I had on Gunbroker. It is for a long gun, dated 1943. Buyer has an 03 FFL and as said, lives in Illinois. I live in California.
Question - do I need a copy of the buyer's FOID card in order to legally ship this rifle to him?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
Edit: the buyer lives nowhere near Chicago or Cook County.

I am thinking no. Mind you I have nothing to back that up.
A call may be prudent.
Questions may be directed to the ISP FOID Section by phone at 217-782-7980 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. CST Monday through Friday

The buyer must posses a valid FOID regardless of having a license.Get a copy.I have gone through this process before. It would be illegal to ship a firearm to anyone in Illinois who does not have a valid FOID.The C&R satisfies federal law,the FOID is reqired under state law to posses a firearm in Illinois. To ship to an Illinois buyer without proof could be a violation of state law.
