...let's see...Hotel Crillon (sp?), Top floor lounge, Lima, Peru...Pisco Sours...!!! I think it was a cactus (PISCO) drink. Maybe we should start a thread of the more popular skivvy houses immortallized in naval lore...or at least some of the familiar ladies...Fatima (Lajes), Tina Cat Woman (Catania), Humpty-Dumpty (Naples)...!!!

... March 3rd 1993 - present, just shy of 17 years in the USAF as a Security Policeman. (and yes, I know it's NOW called Security Forces)

RAF Alconbury, San Vito Air Station, Italy, NATO Air Station Brindisi, Italy, Eglin AFB, Florida, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, Truax Field, WI (ANG), Langley AFB, Va, RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus, NAS Key West, Florida, etc.

... pretty good duty, I won't complain ... but it surely wasn't without tears.

I was in Corrections for a little over a year. Did my job great (not just saying that I was often complimented as performing like a veteran officer), loved my job. But I soon learned that politics and myself are not a good combination (I don't play the politics game). So shortly after that, I was out of there.

Roosey Roads...

Paul T:
...never made it to the annual "Spring Board" trials in Roosevelt Roads. Spring of '70, I think, I stayed back in Jax to service the aircraft Avionics if they had a problem. Turns out, that was the year of the air traffic controllers strike and all our squadron planes came back but the rest of the groundpounders got 'stuck' in Puerto Rico! Seems the contract air transport had to fly 'airways' and there were no controllers so no 'airways'! I heard alot of stories about the "Black Angus"...most of the guys came back broke...!!! The VP Navy was good duty...too big for a tailhook but still sea duty. Maybe shoulda stayed...!!! NOT!!!

12 years active duty Air Force Dec 68 to Jul 81, separated. Was a single parent with no one to watch son, so left and joined reserves and air reserve technician program.
After three years reserve time, job changed and politics got to be too much to handle, left military all together.
Looking back, it is easy to second guess, but I probably should have stayed for at least the twenty retirement. However, it is what is and I have moved on. I enjoyed my time in the Air Force. I was fortunate enough to be assigned to some big commands during my time, SAC, MACV, MAC and PACAF.

There are a lot of AF here! I'm working on my 10th year (started sep. 2000) in Security Forces. 4 active, the rest ANG. I'm going to be applying to OTS and returning to active duty once I get a commission though.

6 yrs USN active fast attack sailor, 3 yrs NYARNG 105 mm Howitzer Field Artillery. Went from punchin' holes in the ocean to punchin' holes in the dirt. It's odd how when you're in, you talk endlessly about what you're gonna do when you get out and when you finally do, you speak endlessly about things you may or may have not done when you were in.
