Did two stints with a slight break....USAF 1979-1983 and 1985-1989. Wish I had stayed for 20, life is always imagined to be greener on the other side...but seldom realized.

I joined the Army on July 15, 2007. My contract is up in 2013, but I'll reenlist as far as I can tell.. so I'm at under 3 years in the Army.

I have 13 years total service spread out over the last er.... damn... 23 years. LoL Active Army, Navy SEABEEs (reserve) and currently with the Ohio Army National Guard JAG. I hold several MOSs and will keep racking them up as long as they keep paying me to go to schools. LoL

4 years active Army in Germany and 4 years reserves in Minnesota. 76Y all the way... I think they changed it to 92Y after I left.

My Dad was 30 years Air Force/Army Reserves/Army Reserves Active.
My Brother was 4 years Active Army and is now still (at least 10 years) in the Nasty, sorry National Guard with 3 tours in Iraq.

There are too many other family members in the military to list them all...

Pulled 20 in the Navy from Oct 81 to Nov 2001.. 1st 10 were fun, last several was chompin' at the bit to get out.. too many changes and none for the better IMO.. Lost much of the old work hard play hard and far too much PC and kinder gentler stuff towards the end. But no regrets.

My mistake was signing the enlistment paperwork when I was 16, but I kew I was graduating early. I turned 17 and graduated high school not long after that and went off to Ft. Sill. Then I was stationed at Ft. Drum. Seven months after that: Partying, drinking, staying out all night had led to an inch of councelling statements and three Article 15s had led to a Chaptyer 14 and General (Under Honorable Conditions) Discharge
A few years later I joined the Kansas National Guard and served 7years and the odd amount of change to make for a total of eight years service.
I miss it a bit, but not enough to go back.

25 years 11 days active...from Aug 1963 to Aug 1988.
Loved it all for the first 24. The final year became too PC and, as was mentioned above, the 'work hard, play hard' ethics became a thing of the past.
If I could go back in time I'd do it all again...in this day and age with the PC and other political BS coupled with the displayed lack of leadership I believe I would have to think about it for a long while. With my love of country, though, I would lean to the affirmative.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SERVICE TO THIS GREAT COUNTRY!
