Oh that looks nice rwt. Hows the sight picture in that scope? Nice stock. If you are not going with a LER scope then you'll need a bent bolt if you do a receiver mount. Just don't get one of those cheapo $11 aluminum mounts that replaces the rear sight ramp. Those are junk. LER anyways.

I like it. It looks good. What kind of mount is that you have on the dovetails?

The ATI mount has 2 screws that have to be drill and taped into the reciver and the rest of the mount is hanging out in space your scope can still bounce if handled rough or worse can come loose, you will also have to cut off you bold handle and drill and tap you bold body to attach the ATI bent bolt conv. kit all must be lok-tited into place.

The kits that i highly encourage is the set up by Rock Solid Ind.
Mosin Nagant
It is not cheap but it has 3 bolts that hold the mount much more tighter there is next to no chance for it to bounce because of how it is attached to the front and back of your reciver. You can also get a bent bolt handle and weld it to you bolt body or you can order a belt bolt body and just swap it out with the body thats on yours now.

Jmeck also makes a handy mount that requires nothing more than a little sand paper to get agood fit. I personally have no experance with his mount but from everything that i have seen and read on it, it looks to be top notch!

Mounted correctly the e-bay mounts work fine. Mine has held zero (with very minor adjustments) for a couple of years and ~1200 rounds.

Installation pointers (I have installed 3 so far):

1. Do not use the rear sight pivot screws (supplied with the mount). Instead drill-out the mount pivot hole, so the old mounting pin fits relatively snug, and use the original rear sight mounting pin.

2. Make sure that the set screws (small screws on the side of the mount that lock the primary elevation screws) are backed out a full turn. Many people do not and end up with a stripped elevation screw.

3. There are 3 elevation screws. The front screw (in front of the sight mounting pin) is used for all MN models as the forward pressure/adjust point. The center elevation screw is used for M38 & M44, the rear elevation screw is used for M91 and M91/30. Remove the screw not being used and save as an extra. Do NOT use all 3 elevation screws.

4. Never overtighten the elevation screws. Snug is good enough.

5. Course adjust the mount using a torpedo level. First level the rifle at the receiver, then level the mount using elevation screws.

6. Once the elevation is course adjusted, tighten the set screws. Again, snug is good (do not overtighten).

That's it. During the first firing (I recommend 40 rounds minimum) check the mount about every 5-10 rounds to insure it is staying put. If it comes loose then you probably didn't tighten the set screws.

And finally....MAKE SURE that you have checked and tightened the two action mounting screws each time before shooting.

Any questions... let me know.

You haven't see one done right (LER scope).

That said the over bolt mount gives you a lot more scope options.

Bent bolt = $55
Jmeck mount = $68
