Well, it is a Tula M44 which only 100,000 were made at that factory of the M44s. However, I don't think that fact alone warrants a $300 price tag anyways. $200 is more fair. Maybe they are banking on the fact they only have one, and think someone will pay that much for what it is.

According to the 7.62x54R.net Rarity Chart, an M44 Tula made in 1944 is only a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being common as crabgrass and 10 being the Holy Grail. The one at J&G has a frosted bore and is counterbored to boot. I'd have to say $200 is way on the high end of fair. $160 would be more like fair to me.

If it weren't counterbored, I'd pay $200 for it. Mine is counterbored, but it really shoots great!

Kinda off subject but in the pics with the accessories, what is the little green fabric thing and the thing wrapped in newspaper?

BTW, wish I had bought one a few years ago when they were cheap!!

Ahhhh, it was not all that long ago I got my M44 with matching numbers and a laminated stock from J&G for $79.95. It is NOT counterbored.

But it was a Izzy.

The little green fabric thing should hold the tools, and the oiler is wrapped up in the paper. Surely it is caked in cosmo, and the paper is sticking to it.

I've seen a few M44s at gun shows priced high like that. They don't seem to be selling either. I wonder why?

See? You guys couda had an M44 Tula HEX for that price, but too late now... I'm keepin it. Unless I can't find a job in the next couple of months...

Out of the 100,000 I wonder how many are Hex receivers?

Seriously, I have no data on these. Does anybody know?

Supply and demand my freind. Just a few months ago they (Tula M44's) were $199, but with only 100K ever made, they do start to dry up.

I remember when K-31's were $129, German Mausers were $159, and Brit Enfields were $169. I bought my (unissued) Yugo SKS for $149 (at J&G).

That was only 3 years ago.

300 round tins of Bulgarian Heavy Ball were $30 and 880 rounds of Czech silver tip could be had for $89... again just a couple of years ago.

No reason to blast J&G. They sell what the market wants at the going price.

Probably should shift this thread to:

Snivel, Bitch, and Cuss!

I can empathize with the majority of your complaint, as one of the many people unemployed due to the general greed that has overtaken this country, and most of the world.

Indeed my home is underwater, I'm approaching the end of my reserves, while f#$k heads that caused this problem are getting multi-million dollar bonuses, and arbitrarily raising my credit card interest rates (all paid on time).

But J&G is a pretty good bunch of guys, and slamming them for selling a single (there's only one) moderately rare M44 is a bit unfair. The remainder of their offerings, both rifles and ammo, are competitive.

Just out of curiousity, how much have you purchased from them?

Cool. There's enough to be pissed off about these days... J&G is a small business, here in AZ, so like G&G and the NRA I like to support their efforts when I can.

If they find some dumb sh#t to buy the Tula... more power to them.

Note: The 1944 Tula shoots exactly like the 1944 Izzy... imagine that.
