Here is what I know about bow hunting turkey. The fall bow tag is $5.50 in Illinois. When I did not have a tag, I had turkeys in bow range when deer hunting (tree stand) When I had a tag, not a turkey to be found anywhere. Wish I could help more.

i'd be in a blind or a treestand hunting turkeys with a bow. turkeys are dumb as a box of rocks, but they see movement very well.

I would use a blind for sure. If you don't have a portable one, make a natural one. Shoot em through the wings.

Some sort of blind for sure to conceal your movement. Use a gobler decoy I prefer the Pretty Boy or B Mobile. Fce the gobbler toward you as it will take the birds attention off you. Put the arrow through the wings or in the white spot at the base of the fan.

I agree turkeys are dumb as a box of rocks but they're so paranoid & will run at the slightest thing they dont like. just be glad they cant smell...then you'd never shoot one LOL

turkeys are not affraid of ground blinds (cuz they're dumb) but if a blind is not an option for you, then look into wearing a ghillie suit or some good camo for your location & make or hunt around some natural ground blind or buy one of those small fence blinds.

deer & turkeys are great friends in some locations & they trust each other for a heads up on danger, so it can still be a good idea to be scent free even if just hunting for turkeys. you scare a deer the turkey will get freaked out also.
just like using a turkey decoy can put a deer at ease during deer season.

kill shots, depends on the BH you use - neck, head on chest shot, up the butt if strutting away from you, wing joint.

learn to use mouth calls or rig up some kind of system that allows you to use the turkey calls w/o much movement from holding the bow & be ready to shoot. that could even mean strapping the call on some part of your body within easy reach & at the same time not taking your hand far away from the string to shoot.

place tom decoys towards you & hens facing away from you.

the easy way is blinds and decoys. set up the blind and the decoys about 15 yds away. then do normal calling and what not.

im going out this year with my bow. but i wont be using a blind.

shot placement on turkeys is critical. neck shots are the best but that means you will have to switch to different arrows and use a special head to chop the head off (magnus bullhead or AD guillotine). for body shots im still trying to figure out the best place to hit them. i hear fallow the legs up and shot but idk. im going to study alot more

I usually hunt out of ground blinds! I always thought turkeys were supposed to be smart, just what I've read tho!

forgot to add, if you do use a enclosed ground blind....wear black clothes to blend in with the inside blind color = harder for a turkey to notice movement in the blind since you match.
just like hunting outside you wear camo to match your surroundings, inside a blind you should wear black.

also if you do use a enclosed ground blind with a mesh screen in place, practice to shooting through it to see how your arrow/BH setup will react going through the mesh.
if using fixed BH's the vanes must be in line with your BH blades. mech. BH's might open prematurely...some say just place the rubber band higher up but IMO then that might increase the chances of not having the mech. BH open up & just wounding the bird.

I'd say dont ever shoot through those mesh screens, why mess up your shot.
