I have to buy her a xdm to get it back. | I got my gal on my CZ-52 which I believe is a 2lb empty/loaded gun. The recoil is almost non existent but there is muzzle flip a bit.

The girl I am going to train decided she wasn't ready yet. Her parents were a little concerned and asked her again and I told them that if she isn't ready, she isn't ready and not to push her. She'll let us know when it's time.

i would not start her off with a light weight 9mm. i prefer the recoil of a full sized 1911 over a 9mm polomer because the whip of the 9mm is much worse. the 45 i barely feel, and i am not a large person. im 6'1" and 130lbs...

When I had my Taurus 1911 .45 it has about the same recoil and muzzle flip as the CZ-52 and felt my girl could handle it and if she couldn't she would tell me.

The.380 is what I have at this time so that kinda limits her training options. I feel the .380 is the right combination of size/recoil for someone her size.
My 11 yr old shoots it just fine.

If you start out with a focus on safety, fun, and low-recoiling firearms, and let her have fun, it'll work out just fine.

I'd love to get all Tapco'd on an SKS. I kick myself all the time for not picking an SKS up when they were $99.
As a best practice, I would not ever have any firearms or accessories visible when maintenance comes to your apartment. I even generally try to put something in front of the gun locker so that it isn't obvious. While we've generally been blessed with excellent maintenance staff, they do have keys to your apartment, they are in an excellent position to case your apartment, and they are around enough to recognize your car and know your schedule. Nothing against maintenance people. I wish I had many of those skills. But, after living in ATL, you become paranoid about everything.

It can't be said enough, I started my wife on an old .22 short outside at a friends farm.
I bought 2 .22LR 10/22s 1 Remington and 1 Marlin at Christmas time. We went to an indoor range everything was fine until a couple guys came in and started shooting their 45s. the noise got to her, but she likes shooting. If noise is a factor start outside if you can.
I don't really like like shooting indoors as much as outdoors in the fresh air myself.
GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN

Started my daugter (19 yrs old) with a .22 Revolver (rental) then moved her up to my Ruger SP101 with .38 spl loads. Spent about an hour with her and had her shoot 5 .357 Magnums to finish the day. She is NOT a fan of the Magnums... too much noise, recoil and muzzleflash.
The next time I had her try a Lady Smith my friend owns, she hated it. The Aluminum Frame and Small grip gave her a lot of trouble.
Then I had her shoot a Kahr Subcompact, and finally a Baby Glock 9mm. Starting with the Revolver I think was way more important then caliber. You get used to Recoil quickly, but the Revolver is just "Point and Shoot". You don't want to confuse new shooters with Slide Locks, Stripper Mags, Thumb Safeties, Mag Releases and Decock levers.

It's gotta come from the basic understanding of how having a firearm could potentially save her life someday or turn the balance of power in her favor. Females as a whole are fearful of guns usually, so be patient & listen to her concerns. Goodluck David

Look at almost anything on YouTube under "girl and gun" and don't do any of that stuff! One exception, get her to watch some of the videos by Heather LaCroix. She's a good ole redneck girl who knows guns fairly well, has a good sense of humor, and does some shooting demos.
