Wanting to know info on the P30?

I am in the market for my first handgun when I am 21 in about a month. I have been told to get a .22 first, a revolver first, or the gun that I am going to have as my main gun for the rest of my life, or the best gun that fits my hand. Since I am a total newb at handguns, I went to a gunshow and held just about every handgun I could hold. The only two that actually fit my hand like a glove was a .357mag taurus revolver and an H&K P30. Now, $900 for a first gun seems doable but maybe it is not the best idea. I was thinking 9mm if I can even find an H&K other than a gunshow. I have been looking at ammo prices and other than .22lr, 9mm is the next cheapest. Other than a tokarev or something like that. However, I am concerned with having to shoot too much 9mm to get good and proficient. Anyway, I am still debating on .22lr revolvers or semi-autos, .38/.357 revolvers, and something in 9mm, 40, or .45 for eventual carry. Either way, I will probably end up with all three of these sooner or latter.

So, I would just like general background on this gun. Is it worth the $900 price tag? I like the idea of an XD or XDM but none of them seemed to fit my hand like this one does. Are grips interchangeable on all guns like this one to help them fit my hand better? I saw a torture test on youtube of this P30 where the guy buried it in sand, pulled it out, shot it, and it jammed closed on the next round. He had to extract the round, shake it out, and really beat the sand out of it to get the slide to lock. He then rechambered it, shot it once, and the round failed to extract, casing it to jam. It did this twice before he gave up. Do all handguns perform like this or will some work like an AK-47? I don't think I will ever be in a situation like that but if I am (and I live in the desert) I want it to function. Am I asking to much for a handgun? Are there any other problems with this gun? Is it something I would want as a first? should it just be something I get a ways down the road just as a something I want and don't need?

I am really just looking for info on this gun so I can narrow down my decision.

I would advise a .22lr autoloader but revolvers are nice, just slow to load and no gain in accuracy. However if you are Richy Rich a centerfire is easy to adapt to and a 9mm is cheapest to feed.Good instructions are essential. If you can't take classes there are video,s on handgun shooting.Wish you the very best in your new venture into shooting world. ,,,sam.

I am definatly not richy rich but I also don't get out to the range much, which means I don't shoot a lot of ammo. Maybe a .22 is better because I could shoot a lot more when I go to the range?
