The fact that Bill left too many gates open for the NSA and the difficulty of using his products inspired me to use Linux, no software needed to install stuff.
I gotta say...that article seemed highly one-sided. I don't aggree a bit with human-caused global warming, but this writer...OMG:
"But adoration from liberals comes with a high price, especially if you've been one of the most ruthless and successful businessmen in American history."
"Most Ruthless" ? I agree that some of the things Microsoft has done was not in the best interest of the buyers. But, I know plenty of other companies that screwed people over bigtim. Enron, maybe? What about Apple? Apple is 100x worse whe it comes to proprietary crap and making you spend more money because you have something with an "i" in front of it. An iPhone won't work with a regular Blue-Tooth device. It must be an iPhone compatible, which in technical terms, is some iSet headset. You can't plug regular headsets into most newer iPods/iPhones. The plug is the same, but it is inset in the phone deeper than what a regular plug can reach. So, you have to have an adapter. These are just a couple of the most recent issues with Apple.
But, MANY MANY MANY other companies have totally screwed their consumers, much more than Microsoft.

reminds me of the biography I have of Henry Ford. There are cases in American history wherein someone has a particular talent combined with business opportunities. As time and money progress they tend to drift off into a sort of disconnected world. Henry Ford built a home for himself and a home for his mistress on a lake. The homes had "drive in" boat sheds built into them so Henry could just boat over to his mistresses home.
At least to Henry Ford that made his visits "invisible" to the rest of the world. He had other mental quirks too numerous to post here.

DeerSniper, when I do the next upgrade just around the corner, I am hoping to do it with Linux...

One of the founders of Intel (in the ranks of MS in corporate bestiality) Herr Andy Grove, was working with a small software company regarding Intel products, when he received a call from Gates who told him it would not be in their best interest...
The cord was cut and the software company die...
BTW, there are pages after pages, about the questionable business practices of this firm...

Blueice, I suggest the latest version of Ubuntu. I'm running 8.04 and get updates just like Microsoft.
I put in a Fuji camera and and F-Spot photo manager gobbled it right up with no software.
Microsoft is junk in my opinion.

I'm with you Deersniper!! I recently had my students install Windows 7 to several of our lab computers for them to test drive. We have had lots of problems of every kind. On my personal PC's, I'm holding on to XP for a while then I will switch over to Linux.
