.380ACP Still Hard to Find in Stores

While I was on my way to the gym I decided to pick up a second pair of shooting glasses and earmuffs for my outing with a coworker this weekend at the range.

I went to WalMart and checked their ammo selection. Plent of 9mm LUGER. No .380ACP in stock.

Then I went to DICKS Sporting Goods. Plenty of 9mm LUGER. No .380ACP in stock. The guy I talked to said he sold the last box two days ago. It was a 100 round box of HP's selling for about $50 he said.

About three weekends ago I did find some at Gander Mountain for $19 or so. I didn't pick any up.

Stock up when you can find it.

those 100 round boxes of Remington UMC HP's were going for $44.99. I hated to do it but I bought 3 boxes so my girlfriend can finally feed her pop gun and get in some practice.

Its called GREED. At last weekends gun show several of the shyster dealers had .380 PMC, ONLY because one of the local big box stores had gotten in several cases of it. At the big box store 16.99 per 50, at the gun show everywhere from 26.00 to 39.00 for the same box of ammo.

It's even hard to find components for .380 stuff. Brass and decent bullets are scarce.
I finally bought some Berrys plated bullets but reloading for this round is like putting socks on a flea. LOL

I was in a cal ranch last weekend and they had 3 boxes of 50 win 380 for 20 bucks. I was sad I had to pay that much but now I wish I had bought all three

The LCP is to blame !! That gun just flew off the shelves and no one normally stocked more than a few boxes. The local shop gets in a few boxes here and there and they disappear the same day. 10mm the same. Nobody has it or components. Moose squared me away on brass. I found bullets mislabeled as 41Mag. Now if I can find primers I'll be in shape.

I try to keep a couple boxes for each pistol. I've been waiting for someone to get .380 in so I'd have ammo for my Makarov. Seems like the stores are only trying to get 9mm and up. I finally found some PMC FMJ and bought the only 2 boxes that they had.

It's plentiful here in NE Ohio, American Eagle, PMC, WWB, speer gold dot...all for about 20 a box. I don't even bother looking for ammo at gun shows anymore, it's always more expensive. Wal-Mart never has .380, but plenty of .30-'06, lol.

i have a buddy struggeling to find .380 for his pistol, but today he lucked out and i got a box of umc for like 16.99 at walmart. it seems to me that they are only putting out one box at a time of .25, .32, and .380 at my local walmart. thats all they ever have out is one box.

Anybody else notice that .380 has become a bit more available in the last few weeks?

My local gun shop had a 2 box limit, but they had plenty. (If you don't mind Magtech, that is)

remember years ago when 9mm Makarov was extremely hard to find in the U.S.A., they re barreled Makarovs to .380. so they could shoot them. Now we need to do the reverse! someone could get rich making 9mm Makarov barrels for Kel Tecs, LCP s. PPK/S s etc.. I wonder if it would be that simple?
