ATF Seizes Air Soft Shipment

The ATF seized a shipment of plastic air soft guns because "With minimal work it could be converted to a machine gun."

I agree that there's a problem if guns like this don't follow the law (orange tips), but to say they could be converted to real lead-and-powder firearms seems a little kooky.

I have owned quite a few of these little guns in the past and if you think you can convert it into a machine gun, then just go right ahead. You will probably have to re-create the thing from the ground up, switch out ever part, and then maybe, you will have your illegal toy. It would take an extensive amount of work to do this, and it would probably be easier just to do it to a real gun. Come on ATF, grow a brain please...

I hope this store owner can bring this case to court, prove to the morons that they couldn't be converted, and then sue them for the damages. The ATF needs to be put in their place.

I think sometimes the feds create a crime to justify their budgets/existance.

The article makes it sound as if the ATF considers these toys could be made into machine guns because they didn'y have the orange muzzle tip. Surely you'll sleep soundly tonight because G-Men are keeping this kind of menace off the streets.

Next thing you know they'll say we can't own lumber because rifle stocks are too easy for the average person to make.

If you point an Air-soft toy weapon at one of our police officers without an orange tip on it, you will get shot many times over. They look the part. Whether they can be retrofitted with steel chambers is beyond my expertise.

That gave me an idea. I'm thinking I might be able to convert my rubber band gun into a cross bow. Would that be legal?

I wouldn't dare try to shoot real ammo through a PLASTIC & POT METAL toy gun, even if I could get it to chamber.

The BATFE is devolving into total insanity.

And to think, I was under the impression those are plastic toys!

On the other hand, don't even point your finger at a policeman! It can be construed as attempted assault. I have stayed out of trouble by using my very best behaviour, when dealing with folks in authority, and that includes game wardens, ATF, the deputies, etc. I simply treat them as I would expect to be treated, if the situation was reversed.

well what can I say, that is the most pathetic thing I have ever heard come on a bunch of plastic guns that would blow up in the first instant of a real round being fired?. Some one has been out the back reading too many playboy magazines and gone and screwed their train of thought up. I thought New Zealand was getting worse with firearms control laws

So comforting to know the atf is spending their time so constructively. Shouldn't they be " LOOKING", for something that really goes boom !

I bet the idiots who carried out this seizure didn't know these were toys, and the whole "They can be converted into machineguns" was simply an afterthought.

I have noticed that a great majority of members of authorities, government and even police know nearly nothing about firearms.

A friend of mine who is a cop had NO idea the steps a civilian must go through to get a CCW permit. A COP!!! Now what if he didn't know me, pulled me over and I was trying to explain it...? OMG!

These ATF morons should find themselves out of work, like so many Americans who have lost theirs.

**This just in, water has now been banned from the United States. Studies show that overdosing on water can lead to brain damage and/or death.**

^^That's comparable to what the ATF just did.

Airsoft guns are no where near capable of being able to be converted. I've torn those bad boys apart more than I cared to and they are no where near the standards of real guns. (I used to airsoft because it was the only legal way my friends and I could shoot each other and not have to visit the hospital)
