Patriot Act Extended

For those that didn't hear, the Patriot Act was renewed yesterday.

The Associated Press: Obama signs one-year extension of Patriot Act

I bet the hopey-changers are filled with glee.

That act is one of the most unconstitutional pieces of legislation this country has ever seen. Damn those that made this piece of trash possible.

It ought to be called the Un-Patriot act. There is nothing patriotic about it.

What a peculiar situation we have here. Obama has become Bush and yet the Conservatives still decry him with furvor. He extended their beloved wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, he has now extended their beloved Patriot Act, has done nothing towards closings our southern border helping the Conservative base retain their non-union low wage workforce, has not rolled back any Bush era tax cuts for the wealthy, has not closed Guantanamo Bay as promised, and travels around the country to give speaches to specially picked audiences and even attends a Christian church. He's the spitting image of Bush in every aspect except one. So, it must be the color issue that has the Conservatives running scared after all. The audacity of hope!
It's either that or there is a power that trancends even the Presidency and that power rules exclusively from behind the scenes, much like a puppet master and his marrionette. Do you think Cheney's strings have come loose of Bush and have attached themselves to the Annointed one?

I don't mind anyone's opinion, but I quit reading after "their beloved war" and "their beloved Patriot Act." To read that, one would think both of those efforts didn't get widespread support and funding from Democrats and Republicans alike.

Obama is certainly no Bush. Bush was certainly no Reagan. Reagan was certainly no Washington.

I love how some folks hate "conservatives" so much, they jump at any chance to type in a smear ot three. The vote for war was overwhelming, and the vote for the "patriot act" was also given a pretty strong majority vote, so I guess it's because the dems later went back on their votes that makes them so darn good and sweet. I still remember a particular dem saying, "Oh, I voted for it, but then I voted against it", trying to buttkiss his way into the presidency. I REALLY can see how trustworthy that makes those folks.

I think you meant Republicans(the phony conservatives and the same corrupt people as the far left). True Conservatives didn't support Bush or the un-patriotic act either...
Again, damn all those that support that thing.

And another thing, get your facts straight. The wealthy had the highest taxes under the Bush administration than any other president since the founding of this nation. You can even find that info in Forbes. I expected a better response from you Rambo, this just sounded completely uneducated.

2001 Patriot Act: 98-1 in Senate; 357-66 in House.

2006 Patriot Act: 89-10 in Senate; 280-138 in House.

That's pretty broad, bi-partisan support no matter how you cut it.

Proud of what?
The whole jist of it is "It just doesn't matter who is in charge". They all follow their own ways of thinking and it has absolutely nothing to do with us, the American people, down here in our everyday world. The only thing that changes with ANY administration is the time of day. Either these politicians are exactly the same or they are controlled by the same people behind the scenes.

I was fixing to go into a long winded reply.
But decided not to, and keep my B/P down, and cut it in half.

But, I will say this much.

Your generation elected him, not mine!

Keep Guantanamo OPEN,
Unless you think POW have the same rights as a legal citizen.
And feed them pork 21 time a week.
And install, a permanent water boarding station.
And a permanent electric chair.
Give the prisoners, their choice!!
Talk or fry.

You already know, my opinions on union$.

As for the tax breaks, Bush gave for small businesses.
For buying new equipment.
It was a blessing, to ALL of us.
Obummer, did NOT think the backbone of the economy, deserved the renewal.

According to ABC news.
Holy BlackBerry! Obama Finds Ways to Keep the Faith During First Year in Office. Has the First Family's D.C. Church Search Come to a Close?

By DEVIN DWYER Jan. 29, 2010—

Obummer has been to a Christian church, exactly 3 times. (speeches)
Yet, he has been to, how many mosques?
He says his Blackberry, is his spiritual guide.

And he has spent more $, in just over a year.
Then EVERY preceding President before him!!!

Like Bush, or not
Obummer, is not even close to filling Bush's shoes!!!.

As for the color issue.
The only one who ever plays it, is the Democrats.
And according to my black friends.
They are sick of it!!

Well,

you can call it the Patriot Act or you might better call it the
one way road from the Republican Party to the Libertarian Party.

I call it the one way road.

Whatever the original intentions it is an affront to a free society.

Red face

Thus far, The Whitehouse Resident has found virtually NOTHING of the prior administration that he doesn't like - he has used pretty much EVERY piece of legislation and every EO as a jumping off point to extend the very same things. Of course, his handlers give him ever more egregious things to push - but has he truly REVERSED any of Bush's or even earlier laws and EO's?

NO CHANGE here - just more of the same. "Hype & Chains" for all.......

You are so right, Big Dog! How about all that hope and change? The only change I can see, is that he now wants those who still have jobs, to pay for all his promises to those with their hands out for more "big brother" cuddling! Got taxes? Just wait and see.......

reading more Watching the Nolympics: Patriot Act Extended, Health Care Reform Kabuki | The Seminal

2010 7:00 am ]

Thursday’s developments perfectly sum up the completely ineffective nature of Obama and the Democrats: the Patriot Act was extended and there were hours of staged histrionics on health care reform that will go nowhere.
Here is Reuters describing the Patriot Act extension:
Legislation to extend expiring provisions of the anti-terror USA Patriot Act won final congressional approval on Thursday, with Democrats unable to add additional civil liberties protections.
On vote of 315-97, the House of Representatives approved the bill, a day after it cleared the Senate. It now heads to President Barack Obama to sign into law.

Angry

The story of obama's administration is one of classic "Crises Management" - wait til the last minute, then use the loudly proclaimed idea of "If we don't pass this NOW, something horrible will happen!" Never mind letting the politicos actually READ the proposal or bill - no, just "Sign it NOW or ELSE!"
Completely understandable, considering the Left's long history of using people's emotions against them.
Of course, the Right is learning that lesson too. But they have been so marginalized, the current administration only pays lip service to their calls for "Bipartizanship".
