my boss has it, brand new never been shot,he needs the money for his boat. he wants $200 for it, it has a 2 in barrel, how accurate are these at 50 yards? are they reliable? would u buy it if u got a little spending money and its your first handgun?
Well, since you don't tell us ANY information about the particular gun you're talking about, it's impossible to give you an answer.
One answer I *CAN* give, however, is that a "snub nose" handgun is not exactly "accurate" at 50 yards. If you're taking shots that far away with a snub nose handgun, then you're probably wasting ammunition and blowing any cover and/or concealment you might have.
any revolver with a 2 inch barrel is very difficult to shoot accurately.... especially for a new shooter.... a better choice for a first gun would be a .22 revolver with 6 inch barrel or another .38 with a longer barrel.....
There are more than I could realistically list here...

That's still a LONG shot for a snub nose revolver...or ANY short barrel handgun, for that matter!
With a snub nose, you'd be looking at near point-of-contact shooting....10 yards or less for reasonable accuracy. Sure, there are those folks who could do better at a range under ideal circumstances, but if you're looking at "real world" scenarios, then you'd be thinking 15 feet or so...
i would buy it. i love my dads 38 smith and wesson snub. its not very accurate, especially at 50 yards but ofcourse its not a gun made to shoot 50 yards.. 200 seems like a fair price tho, depending on the condition.
If you really want it, buy it. But ask the seller if you can take it to a competent gunsmith to get it checked out first, because you just never really know, until you know, ya' know?

If you trust your boss, buy it. But if it has problems, it's an akward conversation with the "boss."
yeah i trust my boss, i been working for him for 3 years, iam 21 and have been knowing him since i can remember ANYTHING... i got it today it seems like a good revolver, but like you guys said NOT ACCURATE AT 50YARDS but under 30ft. it is good to go, i guess if i need more than 30ft i will have to grab the ak .......hopefully i never feel as if mine or my family live's is in danger. but anyway the gun is blued right? i put some hoppes elite gun oil on it to shine it up a bit, but when i hold it to the light i can see all kinds of colors, (like oil pollutede water on aspault) is this normal? how can i make it go away?
As far as accuracy, a buddy of mine a long time ago had a snubby. We went out shootin' it one day and if I hadn't of seen it with my own eyes I'd of NEVER believed it.
I'd shoot it and see the bullet go flyin' off to the right at an angle. The barrel wasn't but maybe an inch long if that. Funniest thing I ever did see though. That's a snubby. And trust me, you could not hit the broad side of a barn with that dam gun. Hell, you were lucky to hit whatever you were aiming at. And the only way you could was if you compensated for that angle. lmao
So if you say this one has a 2 inch barrel, not a snubby on my book.

Yes, that's normal on a gloss blue finish. No big deal. Just be careful not to oil it up too much. More oil isn't always a good thing. In fact, I would recommend using the oil sparingly.
That price isn't bad for what you got, especially since it's never been fired. You should enjoy shooting it.
AK shooter, don't be discouraged by the predictions of poor accuracy. The most common intended use of a 2" barreled revolver is personal/home defense. It is not intended as a target or competition firearm. However, if you get some proper instruction on shooting a handgun, you will be amazed at how well it will do at 50 yards. I assure you, a good pistol shooter can hit a man-sized target at fifty yards with great regularity...and do it using your firearm. Of course, the circumstances that would require or permit doing that are difficult to conjure up.
Most importantly, get some pistol shooting training from a qualified instructor.

Hello AKshooter,
i hope you enjoy your snub nose. the main recommendation i have is that you read the owners manual on how to maintain your revolver. especially on how to oil and clean your gun.
