What do you mean when you say it "misfires"?

Just from what you've posted, it sounds like an ammunition problem to me. Is it factory ammo? Have you tried other ammo?

Sounds like a firing pin protrusion problem. This is easy to check and easy to fix witha few tools. Pull the bolt out of the rifle. Trip the retaining pin into the fired position. Measure firing pin protrusion. Should be .03-.045. Fixing involves taking the bolt apart and adjusting the f-pin stop. If you go to Savageshooters.com and do a search it is an easy fix. Also might be that the bolt body needs cleaned inside and the firing pin de-gunked. Hope this helps. Let me know if ya need more help. dcl

Did you check the firing pin function and protrusion? I can't imagine its a bad firing pin spring. My next guess would be a sloppy chamber leading to a headspace problem. But that is a stretch I think. I'd take the bolt apart. Clean it well. Check the firing pin protrusion. Go shooting. dcl
