Mossberg tactical 500 Good or Bad

Was thinking about getting a Mossberg 500 tactical 12 gauge for home defense. For about $500. Any comments good or bad on this gun?

Great home defense firearm. Super reliable too, I 've never had a jam or anything like that. I got mine for like $360 used with like 10 rounds though it when I got it.

Mine has a AR style collapsable stock with shell holder
I've put slugs, 00 buck and bird shot through it, in both 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells all fed flawlessly
I wish it had better sights though it just has a brass bead sight.

Either way its a great firearm to shoot and clean and trust me you'll hear a lot of things on the 500 vs. The 870 but I've never owned a remington 870 so I cannot give you a comparison

Although they have way more accessories for the 870 I believe the 500 is a better choice

The

Mossberg shotgun is a quality firearm used by many in the military (a couple of years ago the Navy ordered 4,000 of them). It is also reliable and serves in many police departments.

I would wait just a little bit to purchase as Mossberg has just announced their new trigger is being put into their shotguns. This is a superior trigger and is used on their rifles. If you check their website you can see some shotguns already in production with the new trigger.

But, as to your main question, you will not and cannot go wrong with a Mossberg shotgun.

Excellent choice, but don't pay $500 for it unless it comes with 2 sets of stock and 2 barrels. You can get them for $250-300 off Gunbroker plus another $50 for shipping and FFL charges. Look in some pawn shops also. Every now and then you'll find a good deal. I got mine for $100 and it just needed a really good cleaning. It's a friggin beast!

i have the ruglur 500 for hunting and i say go for it. they are great guns. very reliable and accurate weapons. everything i have shot at with that gun dropped in sight. never had 1 issue with it. i love that thing.

mossburges are great guns. military even uses them

but that price seems mad high. there under $400 here. for $500 or less you can get a mossburge 930 tactical gun thats semi auto.
