I got bored the other day,and went up to my snipers lair(attic window)and decided to put a target on an approximately 12 inch diameter pine tree in my back yard, and the shoot it down with some 198 grain Yugo sniper ammo.It took about sixty rounds, but it finally came crashing down. The tree was about 40 feet high, and made a big thud when it hit the ground.I was 75 yards away, and had no problem what so ever. Anybody else do any thing like this?
i wish i could do that, i live in the city where after one shot the cops would be here before i could get another one off. i hope to change this though, I wanna move out to the country when im able to
Only things I ever saw like that were in old World War II training films that showed similar things being done with the BAR and the M1919A4. And there was one we were shown that had a Ma Deuce chopping its way through a concrete wall six inches thick. It is really cool.
Only thing I ever did along those lines was cut the quarter inch thick vertical steel rod of one of my club's target stands when I was zeroing my CETME. Two rounds cut the rod right in half! The Range Master wasn't half pleased with me, let me tell you.
my and a buddy of mine shot through a 12" log with a 12 gauge once, dont know the round count but we traded off a couple times to reload and let our shoulder rest

I hit a dead tree limb about a foot long and as thick as my thumb, to win a bet.
If they ever have a tree limb season I'll use my .54 Hawken, a .530 round ball does wonders.... Andy
I topped a tree, one time, with a Ruger 44 mag. I couldn't say how thick it was, but it would have made an impressive Christmas tree, at eight feet tall. It took seven rounds of 240 grain, jacketed flat nose to take it down.
Myself and a friend of mine cut small cum tree down. He had a WASR-10 and I had my SKS. Neither of us emptied our mags(I was using a 30rd mag). It was about 6 inches in diameter.
