A Mosin Mission-accomplished!

I finally got my 91/30 sighted in Saturday and wanted to share my experiences. I was shooting off a sand bagged rest at 70 yards, the ground slopes too much to shoot any farther than that. This is the same load I use in my PSL and the results are very similar.

I'm currently using a Centerpoint 4-14X on this rifle but will upgrade to another scope sometime in the future.

Thanks Jmeck and Noman for helping me make this project a reality, you guys rock!

What load are you shooting? It seems to like it. Looks like you got a good shooter.

I am defintely impressed with that shooting. I have been shooting my 91/30 with iron sights at 100yrds and can get most shots on a pie plate. I know my gun is capable of much better accuracy. I have been thinknig about getting the jmeck scope mount and im wondering how its holding up to shooting, any movement? how solid is it?

Also, is that the factory safety handle?

Looking gooood PSLMAN, I really like the stock on your rifle. Great grouping on the target. I hope my new batch of handloads work out as well as yours.

Hornady 150 gr soft point.
Prvi brass.
IMR 3031 powder.
Federal large rifle primer.

I was surprised the rifle shot so well with the lighter bullet.

The jmeck mount is all steel and solid as a rock, I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to scope their Mosin. Be sure to read the installation instructions thoroughly before you attempt to mount it. I didn't and it created a snag which caused my project a little more time than it should have.

The safety knob conversion was part of the package when I had my bolt handle turned down. The original cocking piece is put back in case I want to switch it out.

Thank you sir, the stock didn't come out the way I'd hoped so I'm thinking of refinishing it once more. I was really happy with the performance of this rifle/load combo.

Good luck with your loads and thanks for making my project a success with your excellent mount.

Sounds like fun, we could call it the jmeck invitational Mosin match.

My regular loads are 147 grains.

Excellent setup and shooting. I just ordered another Jmeck mount and bolt conversion to scope another Mosin myself.

The one I gave to my father seemed to love the 150gr bullets as well. I think I was using hornady BT-FMJ, IMR4895, Winchester and Lapua brass, and CCI primers. It was about a year ago when I was able to load them up though. I am trying to move my reloading stuff to where I currently live now.

I just assumed since most of the surplus ammo is heavy ball that the Mosin wouldn't be very accurate with light bullets, guess that's what I get for thinking.
