(snerf, chuckle) "Brand new." I like that. Let's see what it's really worth to folks who know the Mighty Mosin, shall we?
Round receiver, probably wartime production 91/30: $70
Shortened recrowned(?) barrel, original sights removed: -$60, minimum
ATI synthetic Monte Carlo stock: $60
NCStar LER scope & mount from eBay: $64
Total: $134
Just speaking off the top of my head here, I'd have to say that Bozo has that poor sporterized Mosin overpriced by a factor of about 2.5. This assumes that A) it has a good bore; B) that I'm in the ballpark on the cost of trimming and recrowning the barrel; and C) that the scope is the 2-7x34 illuminated reticle type most often seen on eBay with the Picatinny rail designed to fit onto the Mosin rear sight base. If the gunsmithing cost of chopping the barrel is higher, like say $100, the overpriced factor is more on the order of 3.75! The irony of course is that Bozo will probably get some completely ignorant novice shooter to pay him the $350 he wants for it.
As it stands now, I'd offer him maybe $50 for it, since he has completely destroyed any collector value it might have. Most of the value of that gun now is in the scope and scope mount. The only way I'd even think of offering him as much as $100 would be if I could get a Boyd's Monte Carlo walnut stock for it and then flog the ATI stock on eBay to defray the cost of the Boyd's wood stock. He has to be counting on the stupidity of novice shooters to get that kind of money. I have seen scoped Winchester and Remington deer rifles in the used gun racks at the local gun shop with good bores and respectable conventional scope setups that are built to closer tolerances than a Mosin for what Bozo the Mosin Clown hopes to get for his sporterized atrocity!
