The wife and I went Saturday morning after work. That place was wall to wall. I walked away with a few ammo cans, some 7.62 X54R on stripper clips, a scope mount and l.e.r. scope for the Mosin and a couple of books. There were just too many people to get a good look at everything.

Spent the day at a family gathering and then helping my Mom get her new kitchen picked out Saturday. Today was just too tired to drive there, and after my stop at Fin in Ashland I was pretty much okay on my needs for a while.

Interesting. I'm going to guess you haven't been there too often. I got there about 9 and left about 11:30 on Saturday. I thought it was a fairly light crowd for that show. Heck, I even found a place to park without any problem at all. Compared to when it's crowded, I'd say there were about 60 to 75% as many people as I've seen in the place.

BTW, welcome to the site. How far are you from Medina? I'm down by Wooster, so I spend about 40 minutes to get there.

I'm in West Salem, so it only took about 30min if that to get there. It was my first time going. It's funny you mention a light crowd. I was talking with a guy that runs a rifle range behind his house and he said the same thing, it was a light crowd. We got there a little after 9 and left by 11.

Heck, we're almost neighbors - I'm between Funk and Big Prairie. What are you going to do this summer when they close both the highways into town from the south end of the county. Got your detour routes figured out yet? From your screen name, I presume you work at a hospital. Wooster, Dunlap, Medina?

You and I arrived and left at about the same times. I probably saw you in the line. I've been there when the line went clear to the east end of the lot and pretty much stayed that way for the first hour despite people going through the doors at a good clip.

Think northwest corner of Wayne County. 71 cuts across the county right there. West Salem is pretty close to that point. My conservation club owns about 175 acres that butts against 71 on the southeast side.

Finding a place to shoot has been a royal pain. I finally found a guy that has a range not too far from me. It's like $5 hr.

You might want to consider joining the Izaak Walton League. We have a 25/50/100 yard range on the property northwest of Overton. Membership in the 85 year old conservation organization is $68 per year for the whole family, which allows you to use the property for all kinds of purposes including hunting, hiking, camping, archery and shooting. Range fee is $15 per year and you get to shoot as much as you want except on Sundays. PM me if you would like to meet at the main property sometime and take a tour. We're an old-line organization composed of shooters, hunters, fishers, etc. We are working to get more kids involved with the outdoors and interact with scout troops and other groups. There are about 170 paper members, with around 20 or 30 who are pretty active.

There are two hiking trails, red and green. The red trail crosses the valley of the gun range about 300 yards out. A fair amount of day use is on Sunday when people come out to hike around. We have both trails open on Sunday, but the red trail is closed every other day so there are no incidents involving someone getting shot. You can go out on the property and be hiking for a while and someone could come in to the range while you're out there and you wouldn't know it. Also, that gives the neighbors no cause to complain about disturbing their Sunday peace and quiet, not that any of them care that much.
