I agree that the headstones should be left as they are. But what I do not agree with is the crazy ideas that woman has about them. And her ideas about the jews being behing the war effort. Last I checked, almost all of the Bush administration was christian. Unless she's saying that the Bush administration is being pushed around by some jewish underground society or something...she's nuts...
Larry Flint did a lot for the first ammendment, thats for sure. But he didn't do a lot for anything else. The ACLU tries to fight for many more things.

Is there something wrong with me that I completely fail to see how Lenny's post is so incredibly offensive? I think he's got a lot of good points in there. I think if a lot of people that post on this site checked out the ACLU's stance on a lot of issues they'd be surprised to find how much they agree. On their homepage right now the two major issues are trying to defeat Patriot Act Part II and an initiative to reduce the government's powers to spy on it's citizens. Anyone here actually disagree with that? I sure don't....
As for calling us all right wing Christians.... Yeah, what of it? I am one, so are a lot of people here. It's not a dishonorable thing, how could everyone get so offended?
Sometimes I do wonder if some people here just can't stand any diversity of opinion. Some of us aren't interested in having a civilized debate about issues, they just want to drive their post count up by posting meaningless, one-liner "I agree with ya buddy!" messages. Personally I'd much rather read Lenny's posts than that stuff.

Post count doesn't mean a thing to me either Bert.....as for the one liners, I think it's due to the fact that so many of up have become friends over a period of time that we can say things in one line and the other will be able to comprehend the tone or the underlying message in it. Other times we tend to become long winded.
As for Lenny's actual posts about the ACLU, I have no problem with the substance of it. But there's an on going issue that has been going over a period of time that the majority of us are aware of and fed up with.......

1*,
Post count certainly does count here. I was repromanded by the admins here because I was rocking the boat when I had less than 100 posts, and the "senior members" here had over 1000. I was told that I had not earned the right to "ruffle their feathers" because I was too new.
Bert,
Thanks for the support. I call the meaningless one liner stuff "The Amen Section"... You know, the back of the church where the old men sit and sleep. They wake up once in a while and shout, "Amen" as if they're paying attention. I do post those one liners once in a while to show at least some shred of solidarity here, but there are some here with literally thousands of posts that have no substance what-so-ever...

Lets talk about the ACLU.
I consider myself wide awake and aware of what is going on in the world around me, USA Today, front to back, Fox News for an hour or so, bits and pieces over various internet services. Despite all those news sources I have a had time finding something worth cheering on about the ACLU. They voice an opinion on the Patriot Act II but their highlight reel shows them pushing around some school boards and championing some dopehead murderer. If they concentrated their efforts on true threats to American liberties instead of picking the fights they know they win I might have a little respect for them. I agree that Patriot Act II is a huge threat civil liberties but its hard to take the ACLU seriously when they are going after headstones of veterans. Kind of like listening to Kermit the Frog giving insight on the dangers of AIDS to senior citizens. Wrong crowd, wrong voice, only serves to cheapen the message and distract from the true danger.

I think our beef with the ACLU is that they do so much for certain liberties and not enough for others. If they went after 2nd amemdment bashers the way they go after 1st amendment bashers they would have ALOT more respect here. I think they can do both but choose not to for political reasons and I think that places them in the sh_t pile.

Lenny I have to admit your statement "jump on the band wagon" made me laugh.
Personally the ACLU is anti christian. One liners are good it breaks up the seriousness of it all. Some times we all treat this site like a chat room that's ok isn't it. I take time to read your posts and then I can get an idea what the responses will be.
Negative or not---It's usually pretty good.

I don't blame the Jewish people for the war effort. I blame the hatred of the Jews for this mess. I believe that our Creator wants us to pray for peace and support Israel or we will answer for it.
Israel is under God's protection. Whether we are with them or not. Me personally read my signature.
If any of you guys are interested their is a Jewish web site that I enjoy. The Jewish history section is my cup of tea. This is not a messianic site. www.aish.com

Lenny, I had no idea that post counts really meant that much. I certainly wouldn't judge a member by their post count, but that's just me personally. I guess the admin's see things a little bit differently. But it's there site. I guess what I was trying to say is that I hardly ever pay attention to someone's number of posts.....

My opinion is that the ACLU is not about preserving rights, but molding the US into their idea of what the country should look like. They will never have the votes to make the changes they wish for but hope to enable their cause with judges that make laws or ridicules interpretations from the bench.
The ACLU doesn't take the hard fights, like limiting the power of the IRS and their guilty until proven innocent dogma, or truly expanding the right to free speech. Those tough areas are left to individuals to fight on their own. As I pointed out earlier Larry Flint did more for free speech then the ACLU ever dreamed of doing. As for taking on the real abusers of power I would rather have the Judicial Watch crowd looking after my interest. The left wing flakes are better at stopping a school prayer before a football game.
