Angry They didn't die for ACLU scum....

THESE DIDN'T DIE FOR ACLU SCUM
THEY DIED FOR REAL AMERICANS

By: Dorothy Anne Seese

When I was a child and young adult in California, we took many drives past the Sawtelle Veterans Cemetery and frankly, I have not been to the Los Angeles area in so many years, I could not tell you where it is. As I recall it was on or near Sepulveda Boulevard in West L.A., not too far from UCLA. It's been a few decades since I was at UCLA also. The last time I lived anywhere near that area was 1962, the last time I set foot on California soil was 1984, but I do remember how my mom dreaded having to pass that cemetery and see all the white crosses on the graves of our lost military personnel. As a child, I didn't understand. As a teen, I thought heroism even to death was sort of glamorous. In my twenties and thirties I began to get a jaded view of world political systems including America's own, particularly after the election of Lyndon B. Johnson and his "great society" along with his financial interests in the Viet Nam war.

We moved to Arizona in 1962, and since that time all my family had died and is buried, none of whom was placed in a military grave. There are flat bronze plaques as markers. But dead is dead, they are all gone, and they lived long lives. There were terrible hardships that granny and grandpa endured as pioneers and homesteaders, but that will be the subject of my book on the real west, not a Hollywood version of some little house on a prairie or the feats of John Wayne and the 7th Cavalry.

The men and women in those military graves all gave their lives (whether the wars were truly just or not) that we might be a free people. Now the ACLU scum wants the white crosses removed from federal property.

The ACLU fights for the rights of many people that can't afford, or might not even know how, to protect themselves. Actually they fight for many rights that we on this site feel deeply about. Here is a small example:
http://www.aclu.org/NationalSecurity...curityMain.cfm

They do also protect the rights of people that we don't agree with, but they defend equally.

Sometimes it looks like they have really lost it, but at the heart of it I think they have good intentions. They are not right wing christians, so they will undoubtably not get much support here. But I challenge you to go to their website and see that they do fight tirelessly for some rights that we all cherish.

Lenny, I have remained silent during the endless debates that you and other members have been invloved in. I have supported you and enjoyed several of your posts. I have even thanked you for a few of them. But partner, if you say "right wing Christian" one more time in the tone in which I read your typing........you're going to be walking on the fighting side of me.

Lay off it partner......or take your crap somewhere else. Sorry OX, no tact used there, and none intended.

Lenny: Most times I find no redeeming value in the ACLU. Once in a great while I do agree with one of their "projects."

I have sent many requests here in Indiana to the state chapter of the ACLU to help defend my rights under the 2nd amendment. They have yet to respond. In my opinion if you are going to defend the Constitution you can't pick and chose. Once I swore I would give my life to defend the Constitution and I hold that commitment very dear.

Angry

For my own information I found that:

"The ACLU was founded in 1920 and is a nation-wide group of lawyers, professors and former prosecutors."

Do you suppose they would take up a case for someone who is continually being accused of being "right wing christians?" Isn't that slander and defamation of character? If so the ACLU might have some redeeming value. Otherwise, why bother with them?

1* and Oxford,
I use the term "right wing christians" because that is what almost everyone here claims to be! I am using the term in this manner: People that are Christian and politically to the right do not like the ACLU. Lets take a poll and see if I'm right:
1. Are you politically to the right?
2. Are you a Christian?
3. Do you support the ACLU?
I'll start. I am politically to the right. I am not a Christian. I do not fully support the ACLU, but I recognize that they do fight for constitutional rights, even if the people they fight for are "unsavory".

The article linked is a hardcore, right wing christian rant. It is written by an uncomprimising person full of hate and anger because the world is not the way she wants it to be. She refers to the crosses as not being christian but the fact that they refer to the christian ideals that the nation was founded under. If that is true then why do jewish soldiers have the star of david above their grave? This woman is a certified nutso. She says, " The cross on graves of our military is part of this nation's Christian heritage using a symbol to depict for what they died" That is BS! Jewish soldiers didn't die for christ! Christian soldiers didn't die for christ! Athiest soldiers did not die for christ. They died for our country!

I do not mean to make an enemy of you 1*, but if that's the way you feel so be it. I make no apologies for my beliefs, nor does anyone else here. I have been threatened and ****ed on this site so if you want to jump on the bandwagon be my guest.

Your previous post said:

"...I use the term "right wing christians" because that is what almost everyone here claims to be!..."

Where? What posts? Everyone...NO. You're the only one using that term as you generalize about "everyone" else.

This is from another article http://www.etherzone.com/2003/mako021903.shtml : "As "chosen people," organized Jewry made alliances with other elitists, like the British oligarchy and the Rockefeller-Morgan cartel, who also wish to rule the world. They are behind this war that threatens to split mankind. Ordinary Jews and many others have been manipulated into becoming manipulators. It has been the path to success.""

The article blames the jews for the upcoming Iraqi war. And I quote, " The Iraq war is a "war of civilizations," a diabolical attack on Islam, the faith of 1.3 billion people and the last bastion of Godliness."

NRAJOE, you keep quoting hateful and ignorant people and sources. hmmm...

I'm still waiting for you to document your claim. Who, where, which posts document your generalization. Your rants are without merit.

As for me I'm taking a hike. Just chalk this thread up to another subject that you've succeeded in turning into a nasty brawl. In the future I'm spending my time wherever I can find a thread in which you're not involved. I've got other things which I could be doing besides getting in a pixxing contest with you again.

Maybe we need to just ignore him and he'll get tired of talking to himself and leave. He's a legend in his own mind!

A vetern that has honorable served his country should have the right to a headstone. To try and deny them that last tribute to their service is immoral and uncivilized. To deny the dead their cross or their star is not a matter of church and state but a matter of good verses evil. The burial itself can be determined as a religous act, why not put the man (or woman) in a weighted bag and give them a state burial worthy of China. If this is what the ACLU considers a threat to our society they and their supporters are truly enemies of the people. As much as I dislike the man, but I have to admit Larry Flint has done more to preserve individual rights then this band of A-holes.
