I have my heart set on a Savage model 10FCP/10FP in .308. I would like to be able of shooting at the 500 range, although I would never shoot at an animal at this distance. I know i will have to have some work done on it. Anyway, my question is how important is my choice of stocks for accuracy purposes. I have 4 options, the Model 10FCP with a McMillan or an HS Precision Stock or the Accustock, or I can go with the Model 10FP Tactical? Any Suggestions?
And do they still make the Model 110, and what's the difference between it and the 10?
My choice is the Accustock. I'm particial to all things Savage.
The difference between 10 and 110 is 10= short action; 110= long action.
I have a 110fp in 25/06. It is my go-to long range prairie dog rifle.
GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!

The McMillan is a great stock, just pricey. B&C make a decent stock for a Savage, along with HS Precision.
I also like Choate stocks,I've got an Ultimate Varminter on my 110FLP 300WM and I'm waiting on them to send their new Tactical style stock for my new 110FLP 25/06.
I have seen the new Accustock and it is supposed to be 100X better than the tupperware the factory has been putting out for years, but to me it's still a factory Savage stock and not that good.
I own a savage mod 10 FP and it shoots great. I had a friend purchase a Choate sniper stock for me and send it north of the 49th. (Choate won't send stocks to canada for some reason). It's truly an excellant stock but a bit heavy. I have competed at our gun club and came very close to winning the 300 meter match with this stock. I came in second with a 2" group the winner had a 1-7/8" group. I still have the original stock and I keep it for hunting in northern Alberta. My Savage shot a 3/8" 5 shot group at 100 yards after mounting and boresiting a Leupold VXIII.
I would recommend a choate stock. they are in my opinion a good quality piece of kit.
