ATI Stock aggervation & other questions please help!

First off, hello everyone I've been reading all of your post for 2 or 3 months but i'm to lazy to register & I've never came across any post about this so maybe some of you crazy cats can provide me adequate information on what i'm needing because maybe just maybe you've experienced this to.

So I bought an Ati monte carlo stock.. and it well looks pretty but functions not to my liking.

Everythings fine until the gun moves.. then it drives me nuts because the gun barrel raises up out of the stock and you have to click it back in but that isnt such a big deal to some but it gets old fast. I seen a photo on google images that someone put a band around the barrel and the stock and connected them together.. kinda like the orignal barrel bands except a little thicker

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/49/16...b57391246a.jpg

theres the image.. and if thats anyone on heres rifle thats a nice looking rifle.

Also so I won't have to make another thread - Can someone tell me where to buy a scope mount that requires no gunsmithing and i do not want the scout mount... seems like i seen one that you can just click in the current sights spot!

anything else you all can think of that adds coolness or functionabilty to the gun then please feel free to give me suggestions.. Only thing i have is the ati stock and a bi pod i bought a few hours ago

What strap goes in the ati stock?? how big is the holes.. sorry last question i promise

I have an ATI stock on one of my Mosins and haven't had any problems with it and have put 50 rounds though it so far. 30 milsurp and 20 Winchester 180gr FMJ.

As for your scope mount, contact Jmeck. He is a member here. He makes scope mounts that are very nice and don't require any drilling or tapping.

its suppose to be free float stock, so it sits loose in the stock..where it "snaps" down, your suppose to sand that area so it sits in there nice

exactly, i HAD on one of my mosins, and i had to sand the inside alot before it was to my liking, not very hard to do just takes some time.

I'll bet he thought it was a "drop in" part! Little did he know the fine print probably says fine fitting may be required.

nah guys it actually fits good i just don't like that at all.. i want it to be secure it makes me feel like it's cheaply made and poorly thought out... it could use an extra screw or something at the end like a 3 piece shotgun :P haha but thats not the point do you all know where to pick some of them bands up at?

before you spend money, try some cable ties. You may just not like the stock at all.

Good luck.

Call me stupid, but if the action is bolted in the stock there should not be a problem. If the barrel is lifting up then the screws are bottoming out before they get tight in the stock. Also if they are tight then what was said about sanding the stock should be right. I find it hard to believe that the barrel is moving upward that far. Just my stupid .02 cents.

the distance between the end of the stock and thew screw is the problem i think it fits good it just lifts up and i don't like that only 2 screws hold the thing together so i cant expect that much whenever it was originally suppose to be covered almost to the tip

Granted this is not an ATI stock but it is simular. The barrel is floated and does not touch the front of the stock at all. It is a long 91/30 MN. As is yours it is only held in by 2 bolts.

It is a Boyd's custom gun stock.

We just hang around.
