Associated Press - Sunday - Social Security

Social Security will have to pay out $29 billion more than it will take in this year. There are just not enough taxable wages to make it even out. Well, all this unemployment had to show up somewhere in the yen and yang of the treasury department.

Our government, always playing with numbers, has "borrowed" $2.5 trillion from the social security trust fund (why call it a trust fund?).

Now it is expected the government will have to go on the international market to borrow the money it needs to repay the social security trust fund.

At present the entire trust fund will bottom out in 2037.

Add these problems to our now projected federal budget deficit of $1.5 trillion and you will see why many people feel nervous about our nation's
financial situation.

Interested in the thoughts of other members.

Yea, I read this just a little while ago on Yahoo news. We're heading closer and closer to a financial meltdown and personally, I feel if and or when they pass this healthcare crap, it'll end up being the straw that broke the camels back (so to speak).

And yea, just what we need, to borrow even more cash. I'd rather see them take it out of the stimulus that the banks paid back. I think it totaled more then the $29 billion didn't it? Do that instead of borrow it from China; Or anyone else for that matter.

And you all remember and or know what President started Social Security and what party he belonged to and what President and party it was that passed a bil so they could borrow from it don't you? Gee, I wonder just what political party it was?

Wake up, folks. Social Security and Medicare have been insolvent for decades. They are the two biggest Ponzi schemes in the world. Why do you think there is a 29 Billion shortfall? It's because there is NO MONEY in the "trust" fund. They have been paying out of current taxes, up until the Baby Boomers started retiring. Now, there are not enough employees to generate the money to pay to the folks who have been taxed all these years (including me). The Obamacare package will be the New Raw Deal. Just another Tax and Scam Ponzi scheme.

The biggest problem is when they concieved it they never expected so many people to live so long after their retirement. I think the average person who retires today only has to live something like five years and they wil have gotten every penny they payed in back. After that they are living of of the workforce. I'll be 65 in 2031. Just in enough time for all of the money I have payed in for the last 50 years to not be there whe I need it. The ratio of retired people to working people has dropped drasticly. There is no way to support all of the baby boomers that are going to retire soon and send the ratio much furthur down. Something is going to have to change.

Take away the elitist retirement scams of the Congress, put them on the Social insecurity System, and I guarantee it will change. Other than that, any option conceived is a ripoff of all of us who paid into it our whole working careers.

They have been, if my information is correct, been pulling money out of there since WWII. They just never closed it back up AFTER the war LIKE THEY SHOULD HAVE!!! That is the PEOPLES retirement money they are taking from us.

Actually your are not to far off in your thinking. In the Peoples Republic of China when you are convicted of a capitol crime and sentenced to death they execute you with a pistol shot to the back of the head. The family of the convicted is charged for the bullet. Now thats justice!

The SS is insolvent because it has been robed by our representatives in government.

Billy Boy did not pay off the mob. Three of his closest aids were killed. They did not
even have investigations, but it was the only time in my life the budget was balanced!

Bush Jr paid out $1,000,000,000,000 to the mob the first year.

Obama paid out $1,000,000,000,000 to the mob the first year.

The mob killed our president in 63 and we did nothing about it.

The mob has owned this country longer than most of us have been alive!

Why do you blame the SS. It ain't the SS.

It's the mob!

Our representatives do not work for us or our country, they work for the mob.

It is all in the mill, and we will not do a thing about it.

They got us squabbling over Democrat and Republican.

They could care less because they own both parties.

Happy Shootin,

Tabdog

Well TABDOG, I know for a fact that Sam Giancana had the Pres killed also his brother Bobby and Marilyn Monroe. READ THE BOOK DOUBLE CROSS....it is true and factual. I know I was here and knew some of these people. As far as SS is concerned I don't think I will be here in 2031 and with the stock market cash and they way the economy is it just gives me more to worry about.....THEY ARE ALL CROCKS...lining their own pockets...they all get rich....it's all corupt!

I'd like to see an option where they could just keep the money I've paid in so far with no obligation to pay me benifits and I just wouldn't have to fork over 6.2 percent of what I make in future years. LOL! Just daydreaming!

Our illustrious politicans have raped and bold-faced lied to the American citizen for decades. Remember during the debates leading up to the Presidental election how one candidate would ramble off facts, and statistics, and the other one would basically say they weren't correct. Basically i got the feeling this was all a side show, leaving the American citizen to do their own research. To bamboozle the people with the circus of politics is their specialty. Very little [ if any] solutions for solving the problems of this country were ever laid down specifically. So people closed their eyes and voted for a smooth talking orator, that was hands down the best at the jibber jabering bamboozlement of the American citizen. Both parties have proven a serious lack of accountability for financially destroying this great country of ours. Big money has infiltrated both parties, and they are obligated to corruptness. I don't know about you , but i've seen enough selling of America to foreign lands, and Barnum and Bailey trade policies. With either party it doesn't seem to matter whom you vote for, the man behind the curtain is not as he appeared.

I can remember not to long ago a thread like this would have been argued along party lines. The Dems pointing the finger at the Republicans and the Republicans supporters backing their side. What I see now in threads like this is both sides agreeing on the fact that both parties are nothing but a bunch of crooks. I am glad to see that we the people are speaking as one voice now. You can label a politician Democrat or Republican. Either way there only agenda is to rape pillage and plunder this once great counrty for their own personal benifit at the expense of the middle class. Seem to me something like this happened about 240 years ago?
