CZ-75b or Taurus PT-92?

i have found a used PT-92 (beretta 92fs clone) at my local dealer and they are willing to sell it to me for $360 before tax. they will also be willing to order a CZ-75b for me to buy instead if i so choose, but im not sure how much it would cost....probably somewhere around $550.

now, i konw the CZ is a better 9mm, but what im asking is, is it almost $200 better? or should i take the $200 i would save, wait on buying the CZ, and put the extra cash toward a 12ga Shotty?

[this will be my first firearm purchase, and the primary interest is for defense]

Well, I've got a Taurus PT-92 and it is a great gun, never jammed on me and it's pretty accurate, but if I had the money I would probably go with the CZ depending on whether it fit my hand or not.

Very tough question to answer. I like both brands a lot. I own 4 Taurus's and 2 CZ's. A few questions that will help decide what is better for a few different situations.

Will it be your only gun? Main protection gun? Carry gun? If you answered yes to any of those questions I would go with the CZ.

Will it's main function be home protection? If that is the case I would buy the cheaper handgun and get the best 12 Gage you can. A short barrel 12 Gage is, in my opinion the ultimate home defense weapon. My 12 Gage Mossberg lives next to my bed loaded with 00 Buck. A 12 Gage shot of 00 Buck will stop someone faster than about any handgun.

If it will just be a range toy, plinking, fun gun go with the Taurus. They are great, well made, little guns at a low cost. 100% unconditional lifetime warranty. I really enjoy shooting all of mine.

I can think of several different reasons why either gun would be the better choice. First you need to decide what exactly you will want to use the gun for and what you expect from the gun. Then the decidion will be easy. Either way you will have a very good pistol.

Both guns mentioned are great. If the taurus is in good shape go for it.

CZ.

Taurus can take Beretta 92 mags, but isn't as good.

Leave that garbage 9mm on the shelf. My local Rural King must have shipped all they had off to another store or dumped it on some unsuspecting fool. Do a search online about the P.O.F. or Pakistani 9mm ammo and you will read all kinds of problems and such.

Your best bet right now is hit your local Wally Worlds as they have had 100 rnd bulk packs of Winchester for the same or less than Rural King wanted for junk.

As for your choice of PT92 or CZ75b, I would try and get the Taurus for around 300.00. It really depends on how the gun feels in your hand, it would do you well to hit some gun shops and do some touchy feely on guns that interest you.
