When you have a system wherein someone gets paid a good wage for helping to give away money to those "in need", and then increase both the wage and the number of people getting paid that wage to handle more and more "in need" people, you basically have instituted a self-perpetuating mechanism which thrives on making people dependent on handouts. By the time you get a couple of generations down the road, what started out as a system to provide temporary or long term help to those who truly need has morphed into a system whereby people have to feel entitled to get a pretty good standard of living simply handed to them because they breathe.

By my count we are now about 6 or 7 generations down that road and have added another layer of people getting paid to show others how to become self supporting while those being shown are paid for paying attention and then go back to collecting their "entitlement" because it's a whole lot less work.

By the way, it's not a racial thing at all. The people could have been white, black, brown, or from Mars. I would feel the same way regardless. It's their ACTIONS and ATTITUDES that I detest.

Interesting, one full page of posts & no one has jumped in, scolded you, or called you all racist. Yet. Just an observation.

Maybe if things go well in November, we can hope for some real "Change" at some point fixing the horribly aggravating process that those who want to go the legal route to become citizens so that no one can cry foul, racism, etc, ad nauseum when the laws are actually enforced. Of course, I won't hold my breath because one party wants dirt cheap labor and the other wants a large pool of dependants to use as voters to keep the teat from drying up.

My Mother in law's friend got 100% on the citizenship test, but was stilll denied citizenship because she had the nerve to leave her abusive "citizen" spouse. How many politicians/college professors can even pass it?? (I took it & got 100%, but I went to school when we were taught things like that as part of the cirriculum. Didn't interest me much at the time, but enough stuck).

The local congressional Rep didn't even return her phone calls requesting help.

No wonder they sneak in by the millions.

I've been behind plenty when they pull out their 'card' and then a separate giant wad of cash, in 10's, 20's, 50's and 100's. Probably $5-$8,000 worth.

Makes me sick.

I understand and agree with a lot of the posts here, but what I don't understand is why do "most" of the comments seem aimed towards Mexicans? I've seen leeches (both legal and illegal) of many different races. And lazy people come in all colors. I've asked many people (legals) if they would apply for a lettace picking job, so far no takers. I'm not trying to kick up some dust. Just some food for thought. I believe if you're out of work, get what you can find. I've also heard some say " I make more on unemployment". I think some money is better than no money. I even knew one guy that always seemed to be "over qualified" And yes he was born here. I tell my kids, nobody ever drownd in sweat.

I would. I'd start with no more anchor babies that divide "illegal" families in the states. Unless you are at LEAST perminant residence status or propperly applied for citizenship, then simply being born here would not be enough to make a child a citizen of the U.S.. Then I would make harsher punishments for those who knowingly hire illegal immigrants and make DANG SURE the laws were ENFORCED. Criminals that are illegal immigrants here in the states will be sent BACK to Mexico (or whatever country) and suffer in THEIR jails instead of here. They are treated too nicely here.

I didn't know illegals could get welfare. I know women can get WIC for their babies. I do know that there are people that sell their welfare cards. Maybe that's the case. $400 on the welfare card costs $300 in cold hard cash.

Hey, fraudulent documents are big business, on the west coast! What gets ms, is if the illegals can find the places to purchase them, why can't the FBI, or other law enforcement folks, and put them out of business? I mean, you get a guy with a driver license, and SS card, that prove he's a US citizen, and the guy can't speak a word of english! What do you do? Don't want to be sued, that's for sure. That's a pretty good reason for making english the official language, and requiring legal immigrants to learn it. It would be a bit easier to pick out the illegals with fraudulent papers.

Because 99.9% of the illegals here in the US are Mexican. I just had a run in with some this morning at a local convienence store. A truck load of them pile out and into the store elbowing their way around customers in line, cursing in spanish and I will end it there. If your here illegally you need to get the hell out! You are a leach on our economy and our system. Another thing that burns my ass is the school my kids attend has some of the illegals children attending. These kids get free lunches and special tutoring. When I was layed off from my job my kids still had to pay full price for their lunches and I had to pay extra for CEP tutoring for my son. I wish "We The People" would stand up and kick their asses back over the border where they belong!

I understand what you're saying. (I am a Natural Born Citizen of THE USA!) I do believe that there needs to be a change in the current way things are done reguarding "OUR" borders. But I also feel it needs to be across the board. If a Cuban makes it to dry land, they get to stay. Florida is like little Havana. Look at who owns 99.9 of the hotels on the west coast. Not Mexicans or Americans. Whan I've been on Vacation, I've been denied because of my large family size, even though I know and offer to rent a couple of rooms as necessary. I think forgeigners are more dangerous to "OUR" future as a Country than a bunch of fruit pickers. I not saying that the illegals from Mexico are okay. I'm just saying that there are many different nationalities of illegals here, but for some reason most seem to get in under the radar. I think illegal is illegal. Have the same standards and requirements for all.

They are Mexican, Guatemalean, Nicaraguan, Costa Rican, El Salvadoran, Panamanian, and other South and Central American country residents. Mexico is having an illegal immigration problem as big as ours as these other countries residents make their way into Mexico and then reside there until such time they can get to this country.
As for other nationalities, look for Chinese illegals to come in second place to the Hispanics entering illegally.
Every day I get in to residences where there are only males, ages 18-50, living in spartan conditions, working one or two jobs daily and not living off of our welfare. They send much of their money home to their families. They have plenty of cash as that's how they get paid, under the counter and off the books by American employers.
Now, there are others who've established families and since our system is available, take full advantage of it. Our own citizens do the same.
Close the border and enforce work permits and things may get better. However, no one in our Congress wants to do this for their own reasons, from the lawmakers beholding to their corporate American friends wanting cheap labor or the progressives wanting ignorant voters. Either way, don't blame the immigrant, blame your Senator and Congressman.
