Absolutely. Smart to remove all contents, just send the tea bag itself.

You know, in Steal This Book Abbie Hoffman advocated taking those "No Postage Required If Mailed In The United States" postcards that come in magazines to get you to subscribe, gluing them to bricks and dropping the bricks into mailboxes. The company the card is addressed to has to pay the postage. Even in the 1960s a brick was not cheap to mail. After a spate of bricks cost companies a couple of million dollars in postage, the postal regulations were changed to allow the Post Office to throw things like that into the trash.

On the other hand, I wonder what the yankee gummint would do if they got a bunch of census forms with, say, sheet lead tucked in with census forms? It would cost them a fortune in postage....

I have the form, and I don't see the big deal. It asks for name, which they already know, it asks for my age, which they already know, and race, again they already know it.

I'm not putting my phone number down, but that's just me.

1. How many people live here full time?
Live where?
To busy at work trying to pay my taxes

2. Do you own the house on a mortgage, own it free and clear, pay rent, or live rent-free?
Was debt free until, we elected the 44 Resident.
Now I am paying, for other peoples mortgages!

3. What's your phone number in case we can't read something on this form?

What phone ? Cant afford one.
For the individual, the gummint wanted the following for each person:
1. Name
Joe tax payer.
2. Age as of April 1, 2010.
15 days older then I am now.
3. Date of Birth.
Check with my REAL birth certificate!
At least, I have one!

4. Ethnicity.
Minority
6. Do you live at this address full time; and if not, where else do you live - like college, jail, military barracks or part time with other parent in child custody settlement, or 'seasonal home,' meaning summer cottage you live in for more than weekend getaways.

What address?
T
his was delivered to a U.S. Post Office box!
Typical Government!
And for anyone except Person No. 1,
???
5. What is your relation to person No. 1?
Person #1 is God, my Father.
I am his child!

Not terribly intrusive at all, this short form. The long form and the ones the Census Bureau asks in the non-decennial years do have a lot of questions that deserve a "None of your business!" answer.
However, take note: the cover envelope plainly warns, "YOUR RESPONSE IS REQUIRED BY LAW" in big, black letters. Do you take this as attempted intimidation?

My neighbors dog chewed mine up. She like's me more than her owner and most of the time she'll follow me out to the mail box.
Well today she did and I handed her the mail because normaly she'll run back to the door with it.
For some reason she ran off into the woods with all my mail today.

Fourtunitly there was'nt anything as best as I could tell worth worry'in about she chewed up...A.H

P.S. I guess they'll be come'in to house, you rectom ???...LOL

I answered everything but the phone nr. If they are so stupid that they can not understand the rest of it I don't want to be bothered with dumbasss questions over the phone.
Should they make the mistake of coming to my house I'll just tell them I got no phone. They can't prove any different because I'm listed in the phone book by a nickname and with no address. In addition the phone bill is sent to a PO box.

Hmmm..... if pressed by the CensusDrone, I'll just give them my cell phone number - I never use it and it stays turned off except for emergency. Reckon I will see the 'missed call' message - sometime........

I don't know if it is a big deal.

But it, obviously, is an avenue for disgruntled citizens of this nation to show their frustration with our government. It, as small as it is and as temporary as it is, gives a token of power to the government's subjects and they are choosing to rebel with that power.

Psychology 101, perhaps 102.

In other words, it's a way to vent. People, including me, are pissed off in the current environment. Letting off steam is healthy, no matter how inconsequentially done.

I wonder, does it say what language you have to answer in? I haven't been lucky enough to get one yet.

Well we're just giving them more data to screw up. I don't think they can add big numbers anyway. About like giving numbers to a toddler to calculate.

Actually that is more information then they need. I got the long form it was asking how far I lived from work how much I made etc. I only answered number 1 how many people live here. I sent the rest back blank.

I am in agreement with this and what Chris said. Not putting my phone number though. I wrote legibly enough.
