I recently was thinking about the different technologies that our government has.
Do you find it a bit strange that it seems all the technology that the government has that has to do with enforcing the public is top notch. For example, police cruiser computers, Red-Light cameras/public surveillance, IRS auditing systems, background checking, FBI database computers, instant fingerprint lookup, etc... The FAA computers, NORAD, military systems, etc...
Then, you have the technology that is designed to serve the public, and it seems to be SUPER crap!
For example: The RTD scheduling computers that you can use to look up a route online. They never work. The computers at the DMV: How many times do you hear the lady sitting behind it say: "Our computers are SO slow today." (always). The networks/websites you can use to look up laws for your local jurisdiction. The automated unemployment system: seems it can only handle maybe 10 callers at a time. Voting computers: How many times have you gone in to vote and half or more of the automated computers are 'down' ?? What about the computers at most public schools. They are typically very outdated and do not work worth a damn. The computers at public libraries...suck.
It just seems our govt. puts more effort into enforcing, or dare I say 'opressing' us, than they do serving us. I mean, this is not news to anyone. But, this certainly seems to reinforce the fact a bit more.
What do you think?

Of course, they're computers make them money-from US! The rest are just window dressing to make us think that they actually give a shi* about us as citizens...
I like how voting is done where I live. You get a huge sheet that has simple and clear instructions, and you use a special pen to connect a line that looks like --- --> that pointing to the candidate of your choice, which is then ran through a reader. Simple, easy, and pretty hard to screw up. It also makes it easy to manually count.
The local library where I live has decent computers as well as a decent connection, and at the BMV I've never had an issue with them having slowness. I'm normally in and out in less than 10 minutes. Maybe where I live things are different?

Well, of course that's the way it is. How else could the government remain in power?
If the general population had the ability and power to actually dethrone the elitists, without armed insurrection, they would have been out of power a LOOOOOONG time ago.

alot of the time in the public service, its not the equipment thats the problem, its the retards using and maintaining it
Gotta agree with that! The people using the stuff for "oppression" or whatever you want to call it are usually highly educated people. It is also more difficult to make defense systems than it is to do a local government website, so the people hired to do the defense systems are top notch and they build stuff that works extremely well! On the other hand, things like computers in public schools could be a lot better but the government won't allocate the funds for them.
Like you said CrazyIvan, the funds are going to the wrong places. Everything is about making us "safe". The world would be a safer place if more people were educated...
