For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn't pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered...in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop. This is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come.
Have each person contact a minimum of Twenty people on their Address list, in turn ask each of those to do likewise..
In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.
Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:
"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States.
Great idea,we can try it, but I don't think they will listen. They are hell bent on ruining their careers, as well as our country. As Saul Alinsky said, the ends justifies the means. Do whatever it takes. We may have to too.
The law should apply equally to everyone, it's supposed to. No one is supposed to be above the law, not even the President. But unfortunately, that's not the way it works. Rich, powerful people often get a pass, celebrities sometimes get a pass (although that has been improving of late), there are certain people in certain professions in California who's license plates are "blocked" so law enforcement can't read them. These people can speed around like demons and break every traffic law in existance and nobody can do a bloody thing about it. Then there's the "good old boy" syndrome. Say you have a state, town, county or parish for you folks in LA., where the mayor, sherrif, governer, whatever aren't necessarily honest when it comes to well known so-called paragons of society who dwell in their particular area. Example: Billy Bob is a well known lawyer in Blind-Eye county. Billy Bob is driving drunk, gets stopped by Officer Jones who follows the law and arrests Billy Bob for DUI and takes him to jail, but Mayor Hickbob of the town that's the county seat, goes fishing with Billy Bob on weekends and Billy Bob got his daughter out of that little shoplifting jam she got herself into at the local five and dime. So Mayor Hickbob calls up the county sherrif and explains to him that Billy Bob is really just a "Good old boy" and should be given a second chance seeing as how he's such a good citizen most of the time, plus that and the fact that he's only had six other DUI's and that isn't really all that big a deal is it sherrif? So the sherrif calls in the arresting officer and tells him as far as he's concerned, the arrest never happened and that he'd like to have the officer's report so he can shred it, and the sherrif explains to the angry officer that if he doesn't like it, the sherrif will find himself a "get along guy" who does, and Billy Bob goes free. That kind of thing happens in certain parts of this country all the time.
