I know I might be in the wrong place to complain about the NRA, but I'm sick of those SOBs.
I was a proud member for the better part of 20 years, always pushing them to friends and family, and telling people to sign up...many of whom did.
During the 2008 election cycle, I wrote the NRA a good number of times (at least five times) and I never got a response. Well, that really irked me. I support them with money periodically, even outside the dues, and they can't even write me back?
Anyway, I dropped my membership cold. After I did so, the NRA started calling. They started calling just about every night, sometimes as late as 2130.
I contacted their customer service and told them I was on the do not call list and wanted them to stop calling. They "fixed" it.
A couple days went by and they started calling again. I again asked them to stop and got a response, "done."
Well, it's been about 3 days again and they called again tonight!!! GRRRRR!!!
I reported them on the do not call registry and again replied to the earlier e-mails to get this halted.
I'm at the point now where I'm considering talking to a lawyer to see what I can do to get them off my back.
I spent most of my adult life as one of their biggest cheerleaders, and I get treated like this?
They can suck a bug if they think I'll ever give them another dime.
Before anyone tells me how important they are, please know that I a member of the Second Amendment Foundation and Gun Owners of America, as well as other local groups. I give them my money instead.
I tell you, the NRA might be buying off politicians in the shadows and helping to protect 2A that way, but they do a CHITTY job with the information war going on in media and an even worse one with customer service!!!!
GGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

I donated a little bit a while back. I specifically did it without becoming a member because I didn't want the freebies. They send me emails all the time. It gets annoying after a while. Thankfully they haven't called me yet. I really don't like companies calling me.
I joined a year or so back, they sent me some free gift. it was made in china, i put it in an envelope and meant to send it back, they have asked me for money several times since. i usually send tyhem something. they keep offerinh me free gifts. i write on the form. "please don't send XXXX if it was made in china" a few days later something will arive in the mail. also made in china. i'm not a flag wearing person. to me the flag belongs on a pole. (my choice, my mom has about 20 t shirts / bags etc with the stars and stripes on them). anyway, I'm sure as hell not wearing an American flag that was made in china.
last thing they sent was a DVD and coin. now I have to send the dvd back or they will start sending me one every month. :-(

NRA calls our house; minimally 5 times per week; sometimes twice daily.
I have called and raised some dust.
For all the work they could be doing; they should be doing it.
NRA ''should'' be fighting tooth and nail; raising all greats of hell; and yet??
We don't seem to be seeing where our dollars are going other than; someone is getting a pay raise

Don't care if I am a gun toting American. If a company or organization calls me like that and I repeatdly asked them to stop and it doesn't they are getting reported. No if's and's or but's about it.
As for the mail, that isn't as bad. However once you quit you should stop getting mail from the company or organization. No matter who or what they are. I signed up free for Motor Trend or some auto mag at a car show. Hell I don't even read them, just go through them and look at car specs and pics basically in each issue. It was free so I was just going to let the free year run out. I did and they kept sending me mail about it, it gets old. Did I just through it away? YES, but it gets old. If I don't respond the first time just write me off as I am not going to signup again for it. Are they just trying to retain a customer? YES, but some of these places tatics are downright illegal and rude.
Send me more. Call me anytime. Without the NRA I would not have my rifles today. Neither would you. That is a hard true fact. So change your lil boy panties quit yer whining and go shoot your firearms knowing we have organizations like the NRA that even though they can be a pain in the butt once in a while they are still there to protect our firearms ownership.

It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
I proudly belong and am a Life Member but sometimes they call and ask me to join and I have to tell them I am already. They just can't seem to get it right for some reason.
It's bad business practice for them to waste their time, resources, and money to constantly send junk mail and make unwanted phone calls. That to me says a lot about an organization. How are they paying for all of this stuff? Oh yeah...with your donations that are supposedly trying to protect our 2A freedoms.
I'd rather see them spend the money wisely and actually use the money for something constructive. Sending unwanted mail and making unwanted phone calls means they are disorganized and inefficient.
I'm pretty sure they hire a boiler room type call service, I doubt most of the people making the calls are even NRA members. No more so than a cross-sample of the population anyway.
FWIW, when I signed up for the $500 life membership all the calls and most of the mail went away almost instantly. I think they do a LOT of good, they aren't perfect but neither is any other organization. My local gun clubs require an NRA membership for insurance purposes so buying a life membership was partially self-serving.
I agree 100% that when you ask anyone to leave you alone, they should do so.
