I would have to say my minimum caliber I will take with me is the 375 H&H using a 270gr Barnes XLC at 2800fps and 5500ftlbs. If my buddy and I encounter one we will be prepared as he just finished building his 416 Rigby (he calls it a squirell gun). I just have this thing about wanting to take the bear down in a single shot and several articles I have read along with guides I have already talked with consider the 375 as their minimum acceptable caliber.
