I love my 597.
If it's new BUY IT NOW!
If used check it out totally.
The new mags are fine. Mine like Remington Golden Hollow Points. No jams or misfires
Bulk 525 or $19.95

i have a remington model 597 and i love the gun it shoots great it is very durable the only problem i have is when i shoot sub sonic ammo out of it just cause it is semi-auto and the subs dont have enough charge to kick the action back right other than that it is a great gun

Bought my son a new 597 last weekend. Put 300+ rounds of CCI Minimags through it yesterday out of the box without a misfire or jam. The 10 rnd mag was hard to load for first 50 rounds. Scope that came with it works well, but plan on replacing this ASAP with a sweet 22 scope I found as Dick's. I am happy with the gun so far as I read several nightmare stories while researching witch .22 i wanted.

The way you guys spoke about the 597 made me put down $210 and I picked up the ACG-SD. It was very accurate and even more fun with the Suppressor.
When I cleaned it for the first time, I got some solvent near the chamber and on the barrel. The black finish peeled off. I now have an ugly zebra. Looks like Remington took some short cuts with the powder coating or paint. Be careful when you clean the new models.

That sounds normal for a Japan made gun...Is the Remington 597 made in Japan??
