Remington Model 710

I'm looking into the Remington Model 710 because of its many calibers and the scope that comes with it. I was wondering if this gun is worth the $350 and if anyone has one and would like to tell me what they think! Anything and Everything is appreciated!

Mike454 , I have had a 710 for four years now , I also own a Savage 110 both in 30-06 if you like a Savage you'll love the 710 , accurate and dependable is what it's all about it also weighs in a little bit heavier which helps with recoil . O and the shorter bolt throw is fantastic .
I highly recomend the 710's plain and simple , it is worth every bit of $350 but I think Walmart has them for about $330 check it out .

When I extend the bolt on my 710, it binds up when there is any side to side pressure making a follow up shot nearly impossible. Has this happened to anyone else and is there any way I can fix it?

and get a 700 SPS. Youll be glad you did. A reputable gunsmith and dealer who sellls 710's told me they were JUNK!! uncle bought a 700 SPS in 7mm-08 and put a 45$ scope on it and it shoots great. Can put a better scope on later when funds are there. Just my2cents.

I have owned the Rem model 710 for 4 years now. I was originally going to purchase a .30-06, and I am glad I chose the 710. I have shot the .30-06 many times and it is a good gun, just a little too heavy. Being a woman I wanted a gun that had plenty of knock down power, accuracy and one that was not so darn heavy!! It weighs about 7 1/8 lbs, thats lighter than most rifles. I purchased my .270 from Academy Sports for $319 it came with a pre-mounted bore-sighted scope ready to hunt. I have killed many deer with this gun and absolutley love the way it performs! I like to use 150 grain ballistic cartridges for deer. This would be a great gun to add to your deer hunting collection!!

My nephew has got one in .30-06 and it 's been a good rifle for at least 5 years now.

I own a Remington 710 in 30.06. I have read tons of bad reviews for it online. I have owned it for 4 years, bagged 4 deer with it, one at 200 yards, and wacked several coyotes with it. It will group about 1"-11/4". I use 180gr because those seem at least for me to be the most accurate for the gun, I do have one complaint about the rifle. The bolt yanked right out of the receiver while I was cycling it once. Other than that, a fine gun and I will continue to hunt with it, about as accurate as my Savage 110.

i bought a model 710 in 2006 7mm mag and i have not shot it yet.i moved to texas in 2008 and now i want to use it and now all i read about it is not that good.now i am thinking about using it and not paying attention to all of the negitive remarks.

I think for the first year, or so there were some problems with the 710. I have heard so much bad stuff about it. Mostly from folks who don't actually own the rifle, mind you. Most people that I've heard from that actually own one...like me...it's a good rifle for the money. I bought mine in 2006 also, in .300 win mag. I've been nothing but pleased with it. I have killed 4 deer with it so far, and they all died just fine. The best thing is, I don't worry about it if it gets scratched, and it cost me $299 new, so if it breaks down, I'll just go buy another gun. So far, so good. I've experienced none of the negativity that gets tossed about. The action is a bit stiff at first, but it loosens up nicely. This year, I got to crank all 3 shells through it as fast as I could, and no problems. My buddy said "DANG Oswald!" LMAO. I give it 3 stars. I would give it 4 stars, but that spot is taken by the 700. 5 stars is reserved for those custom benchrest rifles that I can't pronounce the names of.

I've got two M710's chambered in .270 and I have had no problems. I do have to agree that the bolt was a little sticky at first but loosened up well and just as kat in the hat said the deer I have shot with it died just fine. They are worth the money in my opinion, not that; that means anything.

i have had a 710 now for several years and it been thru hell. And to this day it still shoots like a champ i have only sited it in one time since i have had it and it has never once been nocked off site. I have killed several several deer, coyotes, and hogs with it and they have never gone any where but DOWN. All you have to do is give it a lil oil every now and again and it will last you a life time.

I bought a Model 710 not too long ago chambered in 30.06, I have owned several rifles by some of the biggest names, in various calibers. I picked the gun up after several years of NOT firing a rifle at all, and was surprised by the results, right out of the box it was almost as accurate as my .270 Weatherby, and more accurate than my .223 Winchester. I say that because after hitting THREE soda cans at 125 yards I tried to duplicate the results with those OTHER two guns and found they (or me) were not as accurate. The bolt action IS a bit stiff compared to all my other more (premium) rifles and I dont care for grey plastic for a stock. But considering the gun cost mere pennies on the dollar compared to some of my other rifles I feel that the results are astonishing. Its the MOST accurate gun in its price range I have EVER OWNED!

My 710 30.06 did the same thing, I pulled the bolt and polished it with 2000 grit emery for a moment, cleaned the action and used a silicone based lubricant on the action. I noticed a definate improvement in the ease of throwing the bolt!

I had to do the same thing. I just looked on the bolt where it was wearing and used some high grit sandpaper 2000-3000 dont remember for sure and polished it right up. I have one of the first gen models and i did have to send it in after the pressure release thing didnt work right and it messed up the bolt head. But ever sense I got it back it shoots great. I floated the barrel and just this weekend shot a 2 inch group at 400 yards. So to all of those that dont own the gun but want to complain. Go shoot one...

I don't have to shoot one, I sold them, and sent a lot of em back to Remington (bolt issues mostly). that is until Remington quit making them. they redesigned the 710 and now call it the 770 (new redesigned bolt). bolts are still sticky on the long actions with any side thrust at all when closing. this issue was suppose to be fixed, it's better, but still there. some have reported back that a light coat of grease helped with this issue.

racking the second shot on a bolt gun should be instinctive. a gun that inhibits me from performing this action flawlessly is one gun I don't need.

Here where I live we get doe tags...so I might be shooting at a second deer with that fast, smooth repeat shot my 700 allows me, heck even my wife has shot a "double" before with a 700.
