Remington 870 Slide Release

My newest aquisition is a Remington 870 Synthetic. The only thing I don't like about this shotgun is the location of the slide release. Everything else on this gun is as great as I think a shotgun could get, but I'm having some trouble geting past the slide release. On the Mossbergs, I've found the slide release to be in a great location, but on the Remington, I find that I have to move my hand to engage the slide release. I find this very annoying, but since I'll only be using the release once, I'll live with it. I was tossed up between the 870 Synthetic, and a Mossberg 500 Synthetic, but the 870 is an 870, and I hear thats just about the best it gets, so I decided on it. Is there anything I can do to make the use of the slide release any easier? If not, what methods do you guys use?
Thanks in Advance,

Jeff

Thanks for the reply, Reloader. The only thing that I think could be improved on an 870 is the slide release. I invision a wet, lake enviroment in which someone is trying to release his slide, and having the gun slip or something. I liked the location of the slide release on the Mossberg 500, but I also like the solid slide-action bars and Remington name of the 870. Anyway, any other methods or modifications you guys use?
Thanks,
Jeff
