question on zeroing in a .223 rifle

Whats the rule on zeroing in a .223 rifle.
30, 50, 100 yards???

It's a Remington Mod. 700 sps varmint.

There are no rules that I know of. There are basic steps to follow.
1. Make sure scope mounts are tight
2. Bore sight either mechanically or thru the bore
3. Set a large target 2'x 2' with a inch square in the center at 25 yards.
4. Aim at the square.
5. Where did you hit? Move the reticule in the direction from the hit to the square. For a normal scope 1/4" per click @ 100 yards, however, double the number of clicks for 25 yards
6. Shoot again. Get the hit vertical of the square.
7. Move the horizontal ( up or down) using the above click method.
8. Fire again . You want to hit the square.
9 Good to the 100 yard target. You will be on the paper.
10 Use the 1/4" per click to direct your shot to the center of the bull's eye.

zero it at the most common range you anticipate shooting it. most of my rifles are zeroed at 200yds, though i have one zeroed at 450yds. its all in how you want to use it.
with a .223 i'd go for 200yds, it'll let you hit up close and be able to connect at 350 without to much worry.
