Remington Sporstman 12 Auto shootgun

I have a Remington Sportsman 12 Auto that was purchased from K-Mart a long time back by my father. I am wondering if anyone knows much about it to know if it takes the same barrel as a 1100? Will it handle 3" shells? The current barrel is for 2 3/4" but I would like to change it to 3". It looks extremely close to the 1100 that my father also owns.

"Sportsman" is Remington code for cheaper, less finished versions of their more popular shotguns. It is very likely that your "Sportsman 12 Auto" is the same gun as the 1100.

DON'T USE 3" shells unless your receiver is marked "Magnum". Changing the barrel does not make an auto shotgun into a magnum shotgun. Ka-boom!
