597 sear spring
Parden the language, but has any other dumb ass ever removed the sear spring from a Rem 597 ? I took mine out, thought I would try a lighter one
because I could not get the pull below 5 1/2 lbs. I think Remington engineered this thing without a lot of options for lightning the trigger. It looks like the spring is held in by a gooey substance that doesn't go back in as it should. Before I call Remington does anyone wish to offer a solution ? I thought about drilling through the stock ( trigger guard) , installing a spring from the bottom with a set screw below it for some amount of adjustment. Any thoughts on this?? Norm (flat tire) |

Yikes! Sounds like a mess...
Giving Remington a call couldn't hurt. Also, you could download a manual online: http://www.remington.com/pdfs/om/om_597.pdf I ended up thinking that my trigger pull was too heavy as well, and ended up installing this: MidwayUSA - Volquartsen Target Hammer Remington 597 22 Long Rifle, 22 Magnum Stainless Steel It was easy to install, and works great. 597 sear spring
Hello bravo, thanks for your response and info. Well I called Remington and the rep said they cannot sell the spring alone but he would send me a whole new housing under the warranty ! Now you can't beat that for customer service ; no hassle at all. I would definately buy another Remington. Thanks again, norm
