| Remington 700 XCR Hello all, I am in the market for a rifle for target shooting and deer hunting. I am looking for a bolt action. I am a lefty, I guess my choices are a little bit limited. I have an eye on the 700 XCR 30-06 but the MSRP of $1,092 is a little bit on the pricey side. The dealer and the www sites call it a "rugged" gun which attracts me because I am not the most careful gun owner when I am in the woods. Does anybody own a 700 XCR and would you buy it again? Any feedback would be great! |

| I will second what neophyte said, most of the XCR's that I have seen, have been extremely accurate, not to mention that they look good, too!

| Yep I own a 700 XCR in 338 Rem Ultra Mag and it will make one ragged hole at 150 yards, I have a Meopta 4x12 Artimus (sp) and have shot nickles with it as well, but it is a waist of money at $4.00 a round for factory ammo. That is why I reload, but that is a different thread all together. I would not worry about the price mine only cost 900 before tax don't get me wrong that is a lot of money for a gun but it is very well worth it. P.S. Get the 338 you won't regret it ;-) Last edited by 338RemUltraMag; 04-30-2008 at 01:55 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

| Thanks, everybody for the response!! I will get over it and spend the money. I already heard good things about the gun, you confirmed it. And no, 338 Ultra Mag is not only bad for my wallet, it is also not good for my shoulder. And if I am not able to "...hole a nickel..." it's the operator, not the gun. Thanks! |
