ADL to BDL conversion

New to this forum. Got a Remington 700 ADL at an auction a few weeks ago. I saw a kit to convert an ADL to a BDL (to add the floorplate for the magazine) at Brownells. Has anyone ever done this and how easy is it? Also they have a replacement for the "J" lock. Has anyone ever had the "J" key safety cause them problems?

Unless you have a mill or are very good with wood, it is not going to be very easy for the conversion. My suggestion, get another stock, you can pick up a bdl stock on ebay cheap if you are not in a rush. As for the J-lock, I have rifles with and without it. I have never had any problems, but I also do not use it.
