Rossi Ranch hand .357?

These little guns are pretty neat looking. I was thinking about selling my yugo sks to get ahold of one. Many of you guys I know will say that its impractical I imagine, but I'd like to give it a shot at hunting deer with it. It's a legal caliber to hunt with, but I have come to a road block, it is the ATF. Their idea of a handgun is this...

"...weapon originally designed, made, and intended to fire a projectile (bullet) from one or more barrels when held in one hand, and having (a) a chamber(s) as an integral part(s) of, or permanently aligned with, the bore(s); and (b) a short stock designed to be gripped by one hand and at an angle to and extending below the line of the bore(s)"

You can use both hands to handle the "pistol", and has a rifle stock. Now you can shoot a rifle with one hand does that make it a handgun? I've read forums where people swear up and down its a pistol legal to hunt with, while others state it isn't. I can't find anything on ODNR's website on what makes a handgun a handgun...

Well shooting from the hip who cares about accuracy as long as you look totally cool doing it! Is there a spot for a scope to be mounted?

Doesn't Taurus like own Rossi? My 35+ year old Taurus model 66 was great! I do kind of like the high polish that Rossi puts on their stainless guns. On second thought, I don't know if I ever have seen a Rossi gun in blue??????

Yep, just looked at their website, they do. But I'm not real sure I like the ranch hand type of gun. Pistol is so much easier to use.

I think it's pretty cool looking. I love lever guns, so its more like a compact lever gun. Doesn't mean I can't tac something to the butt to make it more like a carbine. Ohio has dumb laws you can't hunt with rifles, and its even more ridiculous that you can't hunt with pistol caliber rifles. Since it has a 12 inch barrel versus the 5 inch minimum for ohio hunting, the longer sight radius will be easier to aim and accuracy would be better.

I use to be real slick with a pistol, then went quite a while shooting with just rifles, went to the range sunday and my girlfriend's mom let me shoot her 9mm I want to say it was a walther p88? Well let's just say only way I can hit the broad side of a barn is from the inside... Police academy will not be fun for me!
