Rossi single shots

Anybody have any experience with the single shot rifles or know anybody who has one? I hear they're good rifles.

I had a Rossi single shot rifle in 357 mag several years ago; should've kept it. They stopped selling 357's and 44's. These guns are clunky looking, but they work well. Not much to break on them. Years back, they teased us with a single shot pistol based on this rifle. I wanted one. When they didn't come out, I called Rossi; they had dropped plans to make them. Generally, Rossi's are pretty good guns these days. I had a Rossi Princess in the 70's. It was a poorly built copy of the old M frame S&W Ladysmith. But later rossi's I've had were decent guns.

Dont have one but would buy one if I had the money,The NEF handi rifles are ok but have microgruve rifleing except for the 38-55 and 45-70.Rossi button rifles their barrels I believe,on my NEF 223 rifle after about 20rds.and cleaning you could barrly see the rifleing because the barrel was so shiny,sent my receiver to a gunsmith in Carthage Tn.and a check to install a 38-55 and 45-70 barrel's and he ripped me off,as he did alot of others,he made bail and disapeared.The police cheif there tried talking me into not pressing charges(probally was related).Anyway dont think you could go wrong with a Rossi.Have you been to their website? OH Yea the recievers are on the smaller calibers alot thinner but are strong,made from good steel.

i've got a rossi in .223 its a great rifle. i've only put 20 rds through it, but havent had a problem...shoots very well and very clean

Bet it is'nt Microgrooved bet it is button rifled.

i have one of the single shots with interchangeable barrels. mine came with .17 HMR, .270, and .50 muzzle loader. i have had it for 3 or 4 years and i have no complaints.

I have one of the 22/410 single shots I bought for my sons. Good little rifle, but a real kicker with the 410. The one thing that caught my attention is the ejector on the .22, it kicks the round out and it flies like it was tossed by my 10-22 - nothing weak about it at all.

The extractor doesn't work real good all the time with the rifle all the time but it's a safe be it's the ammo we're using - this Russian bear commie surplus steel casing stuff

The sights need to be adjusted but it seems to be pretty accurate .

The shotgun shells come flying out - this extractor works real good . The cat is sold separately........

yes, it is button rifled. the one i've got is a heavy barrel, and is quite difficult to hold steady, especially with the wind where i live, so i try to shoot from a rest whenever possible. here is a link for the gun. the only differences with the one shown and the one i own: 1) i think the pictured one is a light barrel, 2) mine didnt come with iron sights, only a 4-12x40 scope

Rossi makes their shotguns with ejectors and their rifles with extractors. the ejector is designed to throw the shell, while the extractor requires you to pull the shell out. for the record, this is NOT a design flaw. my guess is that they do this because it is easier to find a shotgun shell on the ground than it is to locate a rifle brass. so it's not that the rifles dont work right, they are just not designed to throw the brass out.

Ah. But the spent shell sometimes didn't protrude out of the chamber at all - you'd have to poke a cleaning rod down the bore to get it out . The gunsmith fixed it.

Hello all, this is a warning!
I recently purchased one of the new Rossi Turkey Gun single shots chambered for 3-1/2" shells. The gun looked like a deal because it came with swivel studs and fiber optic sights for only about twenty dollars more than comparable single shots with out these features. Also, it was chambered for the larger 3.5s. Here are the problems I have had out of the box.
1. The rear sight leans slightly to the left and it looks to be a manufacturing problem because I subsequently went around town and found this condition to be present on every gun I looked at. This is easy to miss because you can only tell if you look down the entire gun from butt stock to front sight. Just line up the hammer, scope rail, and front sight and you can tell whether this is the case.
2. The ejector only ejected one out of 5 shots, and I had to stick a cleaning rod down it to pop the shell out.
3. This last one is just an opinion - This gun kicks like nothing I have ever felt partly because the recoil pad is not really a recoil pad but rather, a really hard piece of rubber that is made to look like nicer than what one should expect on a $200 gun. So unless you enjoy or don't mind getting the snot kicked out you, you can add the cost of an effective aftermarket pad to the original price tag.

I have not seen any reviews on this gun yet and I want to help people to avoid making the same mistake I did. I will update as the situation unfolds.

Acording to the Rossi web they will have a barrel program Like NEF comming this Fall,they got a few new calibers added.Was going for the 22-250 HB but I think I'll wait till I can get what I want and not what they select for a pcakage deal,dont need another Shotgun got 3, 410 and 3, 12 ga.already and not into black powder hunting.

The poster who sated that Rossi ceased making .357 and .44 Magnum rifles is incorrect.I just ordered and received a Model R44umb which is a black synthetic stocked .44 magnum rifle.I mounted a Weaver k4 on it and am happy with the performance of the rifle.It does not vertically string shots when the barrel gets hot.
The stock sights are cheap plastic crap.These are well made accurate rifles.This is my second Rossi rifle.Last year I bought a used .223 rifle and was pleased with it's performance.

well, that is a problem...my rifle pulls the shell out of the chamber just enough for me to be able to grab the very bottom of the shell...good thing you got that fixed...that woulda bee a HUGE pain having to run a rod through the barrel after every shot...

We stop at the gun store to buy ammo. There is no 22lr on the shelves .So I ask the guy and he goes in the back and gets two teeny little boxes one of Winchester Super X and the other Remington 22 Thunderbolt . No CCI MiniMags which is what we always use for everything 'cause its the only ammo that really works in the Mark III . Guys says CCI won't be shipping any out for six months.

So I guess we hold on to 60 or so rounds of MiniMags in the night stand for when they come.*

Stop at the Wal-Mart where I asked the guy if he had and .22 lr ammo. He looked at me like my hair was on fire and laughed.

So we go to the range.

Brooks did this with the Henry at 25 yards.



She did this with the Single Six at 25 yards. Off hand.



She shot a group the size of a quarter with the Savage at 50 yards. I did this with the Savage at 50 yards off hand.


Neither one of us could even hit the target with the Rossi at 25 yards bench rest .

We stopped at the gun store on the way back so they could adjust the scope on the Savage . We told the owner of the store about the Rossi and he asked to see it and he looked at the sights and was like. He says give it to me for a couple days and let me mess with it. We already had the gunsmith adjust the rear sight ( way,way off to the left ) and after he did that it was shooting pretty good - but now........

We use that cheap commie surplus .223ammo (" Brown Bear").

The gun store owner called the wife up today and said that both the front and rear sights were way off . He adjusted them.
