Rossi .357 Magnum Snub

I have the Rossi 462 stainless steel 2" .357 magnum.I got it 8 months ago,and it has been great.I put maybe 700 rounds through it,half being .38 special, and it is holding up great despite some negative opinions on Rossi. All I can say is that it shoots perfect.

I traded on a 46202 yesterday. It had some scuffs, but I polished them out with MAAS metal polish ( recommended by Hammerdown sometime back).I was putting the grips back on, hadn't noticed the burred screw or nut. The nut pulled out of it's recess, leaving a useless set of grips. The rest of the gun seems to be better quality than the grips. It will put 38's or 357 in one hole to POA, if I do my part.

Rossi .357 Magnum Snub-46202-left.jpgput on a set of pachmayr compact grips on it. Looks great and wider so easier to hold onto if you have big hands.

I have a Rossi m971 4" .357 and its been great. I was alittle skeptical when buying it but i got it for a good price. I have put a few hundred rounds through it, most .38 spcl and +p but a fwe .357's. the only problem i have had was excessive lead fowling and buildup when using not jacketed ammo, but thats not the guns fault. I stick to JHP' or FMJ's now. this thing is accurate as heck! thats one reason why i got the longer barrel. I like the grip and sights, and he fact that its nice and heavy, feels solid in my hand. Im happy with it.

i just bought two 46202's. i have a s&w model 13,but its a bit awkward to conceal. i had a taurus snub-357 before so figured id try rossi's and i really like em! my daughters and i went out shooting this past weekend and i have a swinging handgun target with 3" square impact spots and my 13 and 15 year old daughters and i were hitting it at 40 meters. i asked my girls what they thought about them and they said they were pretty nice, they liked the stainless but my 13 year old said "their nice but when you die daddy the smith is mine!" the 15 year old has laid claim to my walther p-22...go figure? but the rossi's are a great little gun and surprisingly accurate. my taurus snubbie wasnt as nice a shooter as these twins are.

They are all forged and the tolerances are very tight. Trigger pulls out of the box nice to. The complaignts of the cylinder not indexing when a bunch of rounds are fired is because the barrel/cylinder gap is very tight. I use the stainless one as my carry gun. I converted the polished finish to a brush finish and looks much better. The gun is a steel for the money but most don't want to admit it cause it cost so little. They just don't understand manufacturing etc. I'm going to buy a blued one and have the hammer and trigger color case hardened just to look at it.

one thing ive noticed is that ya cant shoot 180gr bullets with 357 cases because the cylinder is too short. my smith shoots them just fine...i would have thought the cylinder length for a certain caliber would be an industry standard.

Don't know why you would need those big bullets. I shoot 38 special +p in mine. Never chambered a .357 in mine.

well honestly "need" aint got nothin to do with it...i reload and i just love the thump of heavy bullets and the concussion of the 357mag velocities...if "need" was all we looked for in a weapon we would still be stuck be throwin spears and swingin clubs.i mean dead is dead if ya kill it with a 38,357 454 casull or a baseball bat the need for protection would be met. i think the cool factor is resopnsible for most technological advancement. and ballistically some would say if you shoot a 38 snubbie half the powder goes unburned out the barrel anyway so youd get the same ballistic results from a 380 with a bit longer barrel...so im good with just havin it cause i think its cool.

i had thought of that but i have no 38 cases and my gunshop guy was out of em as of friday. i may trim some of my 357 mag cases to fit but i may just wait, idunno if my o.c.d. would allow me to have short cases labled "357mag" on the base. i called my sister to see if she had some because i reload her girly 38 specials for her but she hasnt shot any lately...hasnt shot lately?...i think shes adopted!

180gr XTP's in Magnum cases should be just under 1.58" overall length. Loaded in LEVERevolution brass, the overall length comes out approx 1.535" but you have to adjust your powder charge. The Remington 180gr SJHP in LEVERevolution brass puts you right back at just under 1.58" overall.
The old .38-44HV load with the Lyman #358429 SWC has an overall length of approx. 1.535" according to my notes. That's actually a .38 Special loaded to Magnum specs with a 173gr bullet.
