To bed or not to bed

Normally to make a target rifle more accurate you would bed the action and float the barrel. In the case of my 10-22 target model with a 20" bull barrel I have read that because of the weight of the barrel you would bed the barrel and float the action. Is that true and would it be worthwhile doing to make a noticeable difference in accuracy? What are your opinions on this? I have a laminate stock and was thinking about shaving down the grip area because it's to wide for my hand to reach the trigger comfortably.

Float the action? Basackwards? But sounds plausible especially on a 10-22.

Differing opinions exist on this matter

Personally, I believe the bedding should occur from the rear of the receiver to the front of the stock on any Ruger ten twenty two.

I do understand others have differing opinions and that is fine with me.

Best wishes.

I don't know anything about it, so I'm going to bed. Good night!
