| Ruger Single Six 17 cal
Picked up a used Ruger Single Six 17 in like new condition last month. First I wanted a cowboy looking single action revolver Second i wanted to try the 17 ...I keep hearing so much about. After shooting maybe 200 rounds I decided its fun to shoot. Sounds like a 22 magnum when fired. Its a pain in the you know what to unload a single action revolver. The shells are wicked looking with a mean velocity. And.... Expensive to shoot when compared to my 22's. Fun gun overrides the more expensive ammunition. |

Thanks Logansdad. I looked at that site before I bought the 17. All seems to be true in my case. I like the firearm even if it is a little expensive to plink with. |

Logansdad is that a Ruger Mark II in your pic? Pic is dark on my computer. I have a Ruger Mark II Model KMK512 (Stainless 5 1/2 Bull Barrell) Put a red dot scope on it. Fun gun. One of my favorites |

Logansdad: I have the same in blue and it is the best 10 pin gun. I shoot 10 pins in2.1 sec. Thats fast for me. In fact when I broke my wrist I had it cast into my hand thats all I could shoot at the time. The cast was to my shoulder so I had to hold the piece almost sidways and actually I shot better with the cast. They fell like dominoes. I have been a 17 fan for many years and from what I understand there is another 17 comming out if it isn't out allready. Its based on the 22 long rifle necked to 17. To my way of thinking it will faze out the 17HMR. Been wrong before. |

I used to lust after a Single Six - til a feller here at the range got me into a shooting contest. 100 yards, his 9inch-barreled Ruger vs. my cheap and sleazy little Eyetalyun Tanfoglio single action, both in .22 WMR. Target was an ammo box. I popped it three out of five times over several cylinders full, he hit it once out of several cylinders full. I'm not enamored of .17HMR in a revolver, but if they offer it in .17HM2, I might bite.
