P90 or P345?

I am torn over which to get. Any thoughts on the matter?

I had a P-90 once, great gun, just got the 1911 bug and sold it. the 345 is a nice looking gun though

I heard they are not accurate at all. (the p345). True? Also, I was told by the local gun shop that they are simple (only 7-9) moving parts compared to the 1911 style with 30 something moving parts. That would be a plus for me....

I've read that some of the early production runs of the P345 had some problems, that have long since been corrected.

I don't have any personal experience with Ruger .45s, but I love my P95DC.

I have done a lot of research, and I think that I am going to go with the P90. The 345 is a great gun, but I think that the P90 is just a better gun all around, and more to my style.

I think Ruger was entirely silly to make a new polymer framed tactical pistol with a huge slide right after the expiration of the ban using a model specific single stack mag.

They had the perfect opportunity to introduce a new double stack gun whose grip would have complemented the slide well.

So I'm far more lifely to get a Taurus 24/4 if I want that sort of pistol.

What do you think about the 24/7? I hae heard a lot of mixed reviews and stories about sending them back to the factory.

I have heard the 24/7 is a gun you either love or hate. I looked at one just the other day at my local shop and it fit like a glove, I mean it was COMFY. I believe they designed it to be a natural pointer wiwth a grip angle not too far off the 1911 (which I shoot aswell). I would love to find a range that rents them. Most tests I have seewn for them have been sin the .40 cal.

I have a P90 and use it in IDPA. Shoots good and is a bit slower than a glock or xd. Especially with the safty and long triger pull. Never had a feed problem. Just my two cents.

I'd say neither, I like my 1911A1 thank you very much.

And this from an owner of 3 P-Series Rugers and a Ruger SBH, so it's not the brand name that puts me off. I just like the feel of a 1911 to any Ruger 45 I've had in my hands.

This is a very late reply. I have two friends that recently purchased both a ruger P-90 and the other a P-345.
I have fired these two pistols quite often on the range with my two friends. The three of us agree that the accuracy with both pistols are very accurate, with all types of ammo. No failures to feed or performance quirks.
I'm not putting the P-90 down at all. But for some reason the P-345 is the better handling pistol to shoot.
The recoil and muzzle flip is better controled with the P-345, than the P-90. Very noticable too.
The P-345 just feels better to bring up quickly and faster for repeated shots.
We are not professional in any way as competition shooters. But the P-345 is our choice. To me it is one of the best all around .45acp pistols on the market.

Between the two, I would get the P345 because of the rail. But I would almost prefer any 1911 model over either.

This is a follow-up to my post here about the Ruger P-345. I came accross an older issue of a gun magazine that was in a stack of other worn and torn firearms magazines.
Massad Ayoob had a short article about the Ruger P-345 and it's performance. The police department that he was serving with had approvred the use of the Ruger P-90 .45acp some years before at his request.
Now after testing the new Ruger P-345, Ayoob was urging the department to approve the use of the P-345 also.
He thought the P-345 was a great pistol and with it's more advanced design. He also ran some competition pistol courses with the P-345 and did really well with it.

it shoots great only thing with it is its loud
but accurate, a nice gun to shoot

i have a p 345 and i love it i couldnt ask for a better gun. the new recoil system they put on it is great. it has less recoil then my p94

the 45 acp ruger no matter which model are fine guns, the p345 being slimmer of the 3, the p97 shoots like a dream p90 is a little heavier than the 2 but is a fine weapon
