500 s&w

I ask and wonder, when will Ruger come out with a revolver in 500 s&w?
If they build it, it will of course be stronger than the Smith, and would be sure to be a great seller for Ruger. I know i would trade my Smith for one.

I doubt they will due to at least two reasons, the RUGER .480 and a small amount of these type firearms sold.
I could be wrong, I have been before.

If Ruger does decide to make a .500 Magnum they will have to design a 5 shot revolver around it. A 6 shot cylinder in .500 S&W Mag. would be much too large and heavy, and wouldn't fit in the current Super Redhawk frame. The .500 is selling like hotcakes, the .480 Ruger is somewhat of a dog, having less energy than the .475 Linebaugh, which is what they should have chambered it in much like Magnum Research did with their BFR Revolver. It's selling well simply because you can shoot both the .475 Linebaugh as well as the .480 Ruger. A much more versitile gun. Bill T.
