new stock for M77 Mark II 7mm

I have a Ruger M77 Mark II in a 7mm Rem mag. It is the original blued finish with walnut stock. I have had it for about 12-13yrs now. Last month I went to Utah for a cow elk hunt and it got kind of beat up while riding on atvs. Not in bad shape, just got me thinking of putting a synthetic stock on. I also thought about having the metal teflon coated and maybe putting a camo on the new stock.

Has anyone done this to there ruger? What stock should I go with? Could I just clean up the walnut stock and have it bedded? I tried to run a dollar bill between the barrel and stock, it gets caught up at the end of the stock. Would bedding make it more accurate?

Hogue makes some nice synthetic stocks all ready camoflauged for 146.96, got there catalog today and they are pillar bedded

I was thinking of a Hogue. I like the feel of them. A local gunshop didnt have anything good to say about them, but he was trying to sell me on a Mcmillen.

If you go for a hogue or most any decent synthetic with aluminum bedding,be sure to give your barrel contour as they are hard to fit if you have the wrong contour. sam.

Ruger is useing a Hogue over molded stock maybe one will fit your gun.
Which safty is on yours ?

Go to Brownells - World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools and look at their selection of stocks.

McMillins are good stocks as well, got to hogue web site and order a catalog and look at theres, there are lots a after markets out there but if Ruger is using it on some of their guns it must be an ok stock
