Ruger #3

Does anyone else have a #3 in .223? I've been trying to reload for this carbine and haven't found an accurate load yet. I've used 52 and 55grn bullets with H380 and IMR4895.

I do not have a #3, but if the rifleing in your Ruger is 1in7 or 1in9 you might try some 68gr bullets...I have a target rifle in 223 it does Ok with 64gr bullets but it loves 68gr just my two cents...

Rock,
Thanks for the response. I need to check the rifling. I may still have the original manual someplace.

I once had a Ruger #3 in .223 trading it was one of hte most foolish things i've done .
I got 3/4 to 7/8 in groups with it using a 50 gr bullet and i think it was 28 grains of H- 335 check and loading fmamual first . the twist in the barrel was a 1-12 i beleive
what ever don't aget rid of it!!!!!!!!

ReRide,
Thanks for the load info. If the #3 has a 1-12 twist that would explain the problem with 55grn bullets.
